CEO Mike Morhaime sends letter to South Korean SC Community

Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard Entertainment, recently addressed the StarCraft II community in South Korea over several issues that have been raised since the release of StarCraft II.

In an address to the South Korean StarCraft II community, Mike Morhaime reassured them of Blizzard's efforts to solve several issues such as chat channels and the ongoing negotiations between GomTV and KeSPA.

On the topic of Battle.net, Morhaime reassures the community by pointing out that Battle.net was developed with enhancements to how custom maps are sorted and viewed and that new upgrades are planned. These upgrades will make it easier to enjoy a wider variety of game types. Not only that, but new custom maps developed by the StarCraft II development team will also be released, which he thinks will surprise the community.

Morhaime is also confident that StarCraft II is one of the most balanced RTS games ever, but admits that a perfect balance is a, 'never-ending battle'. With that said, he points out that the new Battle.net is made to make it easier for Blizzard to, 'monitor how players are playing, collect and analyze feedback, and to ensure that StarCraft II remains the ultimate competitive real-strategy game.'

Public and private channels were also reassured to be integrated in an upcoming patch. New seasons will also be implemented and there will also be the introduction of a new professional and semi-professional league. During the Blizzard 2010 Press Tour, Blizzard stated that players in the pro-league had certain obligations and privileges. One of these privileges included having replays automatically uploaded to Battle.net to showcase the player's skill to the community.

A personal congratulations was also given by Morhaime to Kim WonGi aka, FruitDealer, for his GSL Season 1 win. He also pointed out that we would be welcoming a new bunch of players into Season 2 where we would be seeing 'some very familiar faces,' no doubt alluding to many of the old professional gamers who have switched over, notably NaDa, JulyZerg, and Boxer to name a few.

Finally Morhaime addresses the ongoing negotiations between GomTV with KeSPA, OGN, and MBC. He reassures the community and is optimistic that all parties can come to an agreement. Currently MBC is out of the loop in negotiations as GomTV seems reluctant to give them the rights to broadcast. Morhaime also states that, 'contrary to what you may have heard, it would make us very happy to see both StarCraft and StarCraft II matches continue to be televised at the professional level. '

South Korea is still the biggest StarCraft II community in the world and no doubt that a letter as big as a personal letter from the CEO and Co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment would only be fitting.
