Break Down: Negotiations between Gretech and KeSPA stop
Posted by Karsten "pYRo" Haendly 1 year ago
"We cannot sign off on the Proleague, since it will compete with the GSL.", says Gretech responsible at the beginning of the fourth negotiation, demanding a reimbursement from KeSPA for the Global StarCraft 2 League.Entering the negotiations by signing an NDA on June 23rd, the four coming meetings between Gretech and KeSPA did not come up with a conclusion about the continuation of the Proleague, rather making each's standpoint clear.
That is that Gretech fears about the Global StarCraft 2 League:"If Proleague goes on without any monetary reimbursement, then from our position, we can end up in a position where we're not guaranteed any profits as GSL can be damaged because of the Proleague." They continue explaining that "the GSL can be damaged again due to the Proleague schedule.", and referring to the boycott of GomTV Classic.
KeSPA on the other side hold the opinion, that "because we don't make any profit from the Proleague, and the 11 progame teams all pay quite a considerable amount of money for team operations and the board of directors free, it's quite difficult to pay Gretech reimbursement in any sort of currency." They continue to say that "there isn't any more point of negotiations" when Gretech does not accept the fee for Intellectual Property.
In case KeSPA runs the 10~11 Proleague season without an agreement with Gretech, Gretech makes clear that they will take legal actions:"(I)f the Proleague starts without negotiations, then they will not be able to avoid legal consequences." However, they hope to reach an agreement with KeSPA.

#50 Yeaahhh, thats what I call a clever player's opinion
Ok I just have got some small points to make in here to mr #50. First of all nobody is forcing you to love SC2 but what you are saying is just plain *******. Really try to think a bit beyond what you say, just a little. A clever man speaking: wrong. You can't really say that the promotions on the game end made sc2 unplayable/unmicroable/unmasterable. The fact that SC1 had very very old gameplay which was nearly unplayable for most of the lovers of modern games. Like for myself, I started supporting Blizzard with Warcraft III not with SC:BW. Warcraft III was at the time it came out also oppposed the same way as SC2 now is by Broodwar players. People playing Broodwar think like that's the only game that ever existed and games of Blizzard after that were just noob-friendly nothing else. Every promotion on the game end gets opposed tough by who else but BW players. Hell it doesn't take a genius to know that if you cannot group more than 1 building at a time and you manually need to set all the different locations of the map the game appears very hard to master. That's just so easy to tell. But then again most of the most successful games in history like Icehockey and Football after all the game is so damn simple. It's not like football is hard, it's not hard at all, the game in fact is quite damn simple. But the way to master it, it's a long way to go. I wanna go against these negations of SC2 not needing micro / macro. The game has been promoted in that way it's easier to control it, the game does what you want it to do making it easy to play for everyone. When it's easy to play for everyone it's even harder to become pro. And mroe of everything the game is hardly two months old, how can you compare a game where the strategies were and micro were perfected for 12 years to a game where strategies and micro/macro have had about the time of two months to develop? I play sc2 every day and after the beta i was a ton better (read by statistics than I am now) because at that time nobody really had so much clue yet so you could own with a little thinking and hardly any timing / skill. Now the game is a bit older, already TWO damn months and I can see myself having more and more problems to deal with different tactics because they're developing a lot all the time. People are learning more and more about macro and yes micro is stepping in, positioning is stepping in and all of that is just coming up. It improves so much even in a timerange of one week. BW players should finally stop overboosting SC/BW all around. Hell there were other games in this world and just because SC/BW is a top game you shouldn't expect every game to be SC/BW in the first day it comes out. SC1 is a story of how people got better and finally perfection was so perfect, everybody had to be even more perfect to win something. If a game is well-designed it works that way anyway. Warcraft III couldn't do the same as Broodwar because Blizzard litterally never could balance it correctly. They tried and tried and finally gave up which made the game more or less uninteresting to follow. I am quite sure that's why they weren't adding another race to Starcraft 2 (because they wanted to assure balance) and as you can see they're even now working on it. As a player of Warcraft III I've noticed that BW players simply lack something called respect for the new game. They also lack respect for players that once played Warcraft III and keep talking **** how Warcraft 3 for example didn't need any skill. People just need to learn that each game needs different skills: you cannot take your SC/BW skills into SC2 with you and you cannot take your Warcraft 3 skills with you into SC2. I think Warcraft III was a hard game to play, hard to master and hard to become very good at. I think SC/BW was that as well and I think SC2 will be that too. Just give people and the game some time, don't rush with your conlusions. Give people time to develop their timing, micro and macro and you'll see that we will see tons of it in SC2 as well. Just not now - not yet - because so much is still to be perfected, nearly every strat is viable and people just don't have the tools to abuse everything on their race yet. Give SC2 4 years of time and you'll see that proscene will be a real proscene, not everyone stepping in. The number of people becoming pro will reduce all the time as people are more and more in diamond league and more and more they learn to play the game. It's quite much like at work: you cannot compare someone who started 2 weeks ago to the guy who worked there for the past 12 years. It's clear he knows so much more about the work than the guy who just started. It's the same with games, give them time to develop and one day they work like the one who worked 12 years.
Ok, just tell me, why Blizzard didn't make any single unit microable. Microable in meaning of doing some sort of magic, like speed shuttle with reaver, keeping carriers moving so that interprecetors are still outside, muta micro, vuvu micro etc etc. I wanted to get good at SC2 but Blizzard took out my strongest card from SC:BW world - abusing micro
what i need to said here... I HOpe KOrea Will Continue Scbw Forever and they wont GO FUCKING SC2 ...
I agree, but I was also surprised to hear some SC2 lovers say that SC is retarted because the graphics is old and other trash-talk. "Hell there were other games in this world and just because SC/BW is a top game you shouldn't expect every game to be SC/BW in the first day it comes out." this is what I do. I do not expect. I do not call SC2 a bad game, it is bad in comparison to BW, not to other games, thats all. Again, how can one stop loving football for hockey??? its just different, thats all, its better for me only. But talking about SC like it is some old junk(some people do) is simple ignorance.
Well to start with... yes i am afraid to change, why? because even tho i am not that good, sc:bw its my hobby, and it is a great game, and it always be an excellent game, #52 you are obviusly not so much involved in sc:bw, i play since '99, and i have never got tired of sc:bw, it is not that i love videogames, its just that i love sc:bw, so you played WCIII rite? and i bet you bought it when it was new and eventually you got tired and you now keep it on its box, in god knows where, i dont know its just a guess.... Well for my point of view there are 3 types of persons who plays SC2, the ppl who only want to play the Newest game, until a new one comes out and... byebye .... The bounty killers, yeh... all the best foreign Sc:Bw gamers that ran away to sc2 as soon as they could for the money (wich its understandable) and the ppl who followed the transition.... sc:bw To SC2.... and i believe you sir are part of those ppl who play the games just because thats a new game that you want to play, and its ok, i mean, i have nothing agaisnt that, but when you get involve with ppl who made sc:bw an important part of their lives, because finally, when i arrived home from work, school, gf house, or wherever, and i had a though day, all i ever needed to do its open sc:bw... so let me put it this way... you are comparing sc with hockey and american football... I love football ( i mean the real football ... soccer how ever you call it ), and i see SC:BW as important as football its for me, i enjoy watching the progames, and i get really mad bcause, the assholes from blizzard, are destroying my favorite hobby, screw them! they have enough fucking money already... and cmon! pro league of sc2.... Honestly #52 do you really believe that if the game its easier, its harder for you to become good at it????? .... WEll thats a very... amm... interesting point of view... if you are going to put an example, sports are simple, yes... but its not simple to get in good shape to play em.... just remember my words... SC2 will end up like WC3.... its new... better graphics... has a pro league... everybody knows its there.... but no one gives a crap :)
*Everybody having fun* Blizzard: "Hmmmm... let me see a cheat code... "show me the money" World: gg.
# 4 true #50 SC:BW is the better game but all the money are in SC2. true
