Tera-Gaming claims first place

Posted by Karsten "pYRo" Haendly 1 year ago
Tera-Gaming defeats ESC Gaming in the finals of the StarCraft 2 ClanLeague's first season, taking home 650 Euros, while ESC Gaming wins 250 Euros.

With the finals and match for third place playing out, the SC2CL comes to an end, with the underdog Tera-Gaming taking first place by beating ESC Gaming 3:2 in the finals. Not only do they claim the first title in SC2CL's history, but also add 650 Euros to their budget. ESC Gaming gets 250 Euros for second place. In the match for third place, the German team Mousesports took down their Polish opponents AFM, receiving 100 Euros for their effort.

Team manager Niklas 'DeVo' Karoly had this to say about their success:
"First of all, I would like to thank Tera-Gaming for their support. The SC2CL was the first team league in StarCraft II and we are very proud that we won the league."

Tera-Gaming's road to the finals was everything but easy, meeting n!faculty in the second round, and only winning with a close score of 3:2. In round 4 the American team Root was up for a hard battle, too. This match went down to the ace match as well, with Inuh taking it 2:1 over Sheth.

Facing Strelok’s team Mousesports in the semifinals did not scare them. As team manager Niklas 'DeVo' Karoly put it: "Our Grid was very heavy and we didn’t know before how to manage that. But after we won against n!faculty, Team ALTERNATE and Root-Gaming we knew that we can [sic] beat mousesports too." Yet they managed to score another victory and guaranteed themselves at least 250 Euros by playing in the finals. In the finals they started with a loss against ESC's Terran GoOdy, who won 2:0 against EroX. Eventually, the clan war went down to the ace match again, seeing GoOdy as the opponent. This time though, Tera-Gaming was able to defeat him and take home the gold medal and the prize money.

The third place decider was much more one-sided. Mousesports did not even need the 2vs2 match to win against AFM. Three victories in the single matches sealed their victory and earned them 100 Euros in cash. Nevertheless, team manager Markus 'Max' Kemper is not very satisfied with their performance: "We obviously aren't really satisfied with our 3rd place but we dont derserve[sic] more than this due to our very bad performance in our semifinal." He also reflects that they were not losing a single 1vs1 match until the semifinal and therefore looks forward to another season "to show all that this 3rd place was just an accident."
