IEM: We Have a Winner

How do you spell 'the best player in the world'? MorroW. Stefan "MorroW" Andersson amazingly won the grand final of the Intel Extreme Masters at Gamescom 3-1 over IdrA.
It took them four games, and the young, Swedish Terran player came out on the top after amazingly taking down IdrA 3-1 in the grand final for Intel Extreme Masters at Gamescom.

That was what MorroW said after the games, and it worked out very well. With brilliant reaper micro, especially in the first game, and going for reapers all of the first three matches he tricked IdrA into believing he was going for reapers also in the final game at Steppes of War, making a Tech Lab to his barracks and hiding a factory in the back of his main. Greg "IdrA" Fields sacrificed an overlord to find out what was going on, but MorroW hid his marauders and hellions well, and could eventually celebrate a well performed, and timed push which made him the winner of IEM Global Challenge.

| Funny to see people still crying, after zerg took 2nd and 3rd place in huge tournament and they manage to beat great terran players in group/quarters and semis on the way to finals. I agree terran is easies to play, but still its not so hard to win with terran, as we all saw in this tournament. #41 Well grils like that doesnt know anything about the game, esport ect. They probably feel sorry that, guys between 15-25 year are playing computer games instead of getting drunk on parties, getting laid ect. |

| #15 one imba abuser not deserved to win Ehh... that's what all games are all about. Exploiting the leaks/weaknesses in either the game or your opponents strategy/playstyle. MorroW deserves to be praised for apparently being the best at doing so right now. Can't blame him if the game is imbalanced. |

Easy to hear there is a lot of old wc3 players out there ( I am too xD), always talking about imba. If terran was imba how could tarson loose vs dimaga? |

It can be first unit without tech still it is very fast does good dmg and ignores cliff. Build some and go kill drones and if someone try to stop you well you have 2x unit speed (a.k.a. gosu mikro). |

| His live performance against Dimaga the semi-final was even better, where he basically won the deciding game only using reapers, very impressing. And beating Dimaga and TLO = deserved win for sure |

Player deserv to win , when he play GOOD GAME You all say if someone tell TERRAN is IMBA , automaticly is cryboy . I say terran is imba , like many more players . And i dont care about stats win or loss.. i dont care , f*ck stats . And i think many more players tell terran is imba , and they dont care abouth stats to ... | I feel like a little nerf would be ok not a big one tho, but that aside. Morrow played VERY well solid micro and deserved to win good. IdrA is a life noob being BM. Morrow is a VERY nice guys and FULLY deserved to win. P.S Morrow buy the chicks with your 5k and see you in a week :P |

| So I was expecting to see some blow outs because Morrow "won only because of imbalance" but honestly a lot of the matches were still pretty close. After his reaper harass finally would get shut down he always got counter attacked and I was never sure if he would hold it off or not. Plus morrow just had far more intense micro than Idra, I mean that was really impressive play. I dunno if that is what you call imba or not, but it was pretty obvious that morrow was simply doing more stuff than Idra. I guess it does seem a little silly that having so many reapers negates the fact that roaches are their hard counter, but then again it would be kind of stupid if you couldn't make any more reapers simply because your opponent threw down a roach warren. Blizz will have a tough time balancing that imo. |
| I watched all of the games, thx too ESL TV, and I have to say that T is imba atm a bit, and not why many players describe it. On Zerg I have only one thing to say, DIMAGA and (always BM) IdrA got 3rd and 2nd cause they play fkn good. But no P in best of 8? only 3 Zerg and 5 Terran :D:D:D:D Guys come on. You really don't admit something is wrong here? Even MorroW stated that this build is not balanced, and 1 more hint, WCG stated that sc2 will not be the game to be played since its balance is not right yet. On the other hand, the game just came out, you can not get the same level of balance like BW, but blizz is a bit slow on balance issues atm. You can hate IdrA, but his macro and micro is A+. This reaper build is just OMG. I have to admit that MorroW played nice mind game on IdrA last game, but in a balanced game, many players would have lost much earlier stages. ps.: DIMAGA you are the coolest player ever :) |

| Well, I hope for a Balance Patch too, so that you can stfu with your whining...it's getting extreme -.-. Morrow WON IDRA because he played better. Idra may be the better player, but Morrow played better that day, clearly, who doesn't admit this, is just an ignorant noob. Do you really think it will stop after the balance patch? Most terran players don't even win because of the imbalance... I play this game without even using this strats which are imbalanced... (just tryed out that reaper thing in the last 5 games, and I have to tell you, it's going the same way, just you see that the zergs can't manage pressure early on, because they think it's not fair that they can't take their expansion. It's not BW, where you get an expo for free... It's more like Wc3 where human gets an expo and undead harrases with ghouls --> when UD gets it done, it's pretty much over, so it's here... When you get your expo up without a problem, the T has to play much better to win, if you don't get your expo up withuot a Problem, the zerg has to play much better to win. Now it was the reaper rush, next time it's the banshee again, and then it's marines, then marauders, then medivacs and then TANKS.... and nukes are imba too, like in BW !!!111 Really imbalance is when you can't win vs a tactic which is used all the time. And you obviously can win against reaper rush... we saw it. Beta imbalance was worse. TvP marine scv rush was imbalanced, you could win vs the best toss in the ladder by doing this... after that PvT immortal rush was imbalanced, normal P could win much better T by just doing the normal stuff + 2 immortals and it was pretty much over with a-click, that was imbalanced... |

| what a bunch of retards commenting on this site seriously...........its amazing. morrow won beating TLO DIMAGA AND IDRA. do you realize what it is? or do you think any single noob playing terran would have done this ? do you also realize that the overall ZvT score of this tournament BEFORE the finals actually was 22-20 ? and after the final, guess what, its 23-23!!! THIS IS SO IMBALANCED OBVIOUSLY !! GG MORROW IMBA ABUSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and notice that i counted both underskilled players compared to the others aka madfrog and artosis who went 2-10 vs T overall. so actually dima and idra have 21-13 ZvT in this tour. this is obviously really imbalanced. both only lost ZvT against the future winner, morrow. maybe he was just better than them these days ? or is this also too hard for u to admit? |
| @97 sorry pal but u dont have any idea wat you re talking about. you cant understand wat pros are whining about tvz just take your time and read some of dimaga's quotes or morrow's morrow simply accepted the imbalance and he said something like i feel sorry cuz dimaga is such a good player i had to make imba reaper strat. against him to win and its not about fan support i wanted to see a better game. Check the last game getting wall in, hiding your marauders hellion then rushing just because z cant scout properly isnt skill and also boring to watch If we want a better e sport scene we need showmatchs which people can get fun |
