SearchBlizzard Lists Top 200 in EU and US Servers

Blizzard has recently released a list of the top 200 players from the European and North American regions. These rankings are based on internal numbers and a bit of number crunching by Blizzard.Being top dog in your diamond division won't necessarily guarantee you a spot in the top 200 by Blizzard. It's not just based on your final rating in points that decides where you place on Blizzard's top 200 list.

Careful calculation into games played, percentage of wins, and even activeness are put into the calculation. From these different factors a more accurate list of the top 200 is then produced by Blizzard in their top 200 rankings. With these rankings also come a promise of a tournament in the future that will pit the top players against each other. Updates every few weeks are promised as well.
Terran Dominion
The large count of Terran players in the top 200 can be quite overwhelming. This could be attributed to the fact that this expansion was based around the Terran race and is a more natural progression from the campaign to multiplayer for most players.
Terran players in both the European and North American rankings account for roughly 40% of all players ranked. The top 10 is no exception to this. Terrans currently occupy half of the top 10 spots in the rankings.
Reversed Positions
Protoss players in Europe have barely cracked the top 10 spots by ranking 9th and 10th. Meanwhile the Protoss players in North America seem to have taken the top 2 spots away from the Terran players. This interesting reversal of the top 10 could change as time goes on, maybe the European Protoss' should take a few lessons from their North American brethren.
Burrowing in
The lowest count for a race that isn't Random are Zergs, which make up for 25% or less of the top 200 players in each region. Despite this statistic, Zerg players have managed to crack the top 10 and burrowed themselves in among the elite. Although there are not as many Zerg players in the top 200, the top 10 has shown that the top Zergs can tango with the best of the best in the other two races.
As the weeks go on Blizzard will continue to monitor and update us on the rankings. So although sites do exist that compile player ranks and rank them based on their point rankings, know that there is a much deeper and meticulous way of finding Blizzard's top 200.

| #5,#7, it is meant to be a suggestion as to the possible reasons, not an excuse. #10, no. |
| #10 How you came up with that conclusion is beyond me... No what the author of this topic is pointing out is that the game has been focused around Terran, therefore there are alot more terrain players in general than there are zerg or protoss, it doesn't automatic make you a l33t player, but by having more terrain players among the community, naturally increases the chances of that race also being more represented among the top 200 players list. |

| #9, it takes about 100-200 Quick matches on the ladder to make it top 200 on your server. I guess that most of the PRO gamers dont play Quick matches that often, but instead practice different matchups with teammates and buddies. This list should not be considered as a list of the best players but rather a list of the most active top players. |
| Well... It does sound weird the explanation for so many Terrans in --->top 200<--- It would make sense as a whole why there are so many Terrans. But I don't see what is has got to do with being in top 200 as they are probably the "best" |

| Terran is does seem to be op, we'll have to wait and see how the list progress in the upcoming weeks though to be completely sure. And the argument that Terrans are extra popular because of the expansion is ridicules, it doesn't have any effect on the player that play on this lvl. They played the beta and no doubt decided on what race they were going to play before the game was released. The campaign only effects new players. |

| I don't think you should do the race balance analysis based on the top10 of this list. Many pro players don't ladder that much. Should base it on top50 or top100 instead. |

| #26 lol, now when someone says "hey I play sc2 at competitive" you can assume perfectly he plays terran. If patches aren't delivered (at least patches who give zerg something interesting), this game will be always PvT like has happened in the last ZOTAC. |

Dont start with that races are overpowered, in Starcraft, its always about scouting and countering enemies with your tactic, starcraft is one of the most balanced games there is.  |
| #36 some builds on sc2 require (at least for zerg) to not scout until the transition from early to midgame, for example, on lost temple you usually go for FE with mutas and terran goes for hellions. The problems is that FE with mutas is not enough if terran has thor, so you gotta wait to late game and take expansions in order to win. Is not all about scouting in higher levels. |

| It's tough to say whether <race> is <over/under> powered. Just look at Zerg. In EU/US, most Zergs go for early natural expansion, while in Asia, 1 base Zerg is the most common. And this rating is crap, they have TLO ranked 50th on EU. I would seriously DOUBT he couldn't do better... just wait for the tournaments people... |

| Guys, this list is NOT based only on ratings!!! They made different calculations, ranking points dont say much, there are different factors for skill... to which only Blizz has access... hence, there is this list! This list is much more important and does say more than the world wide ratings @ rts-sanctuary! Just keep that in mind. And btw, GOGOGOGOGO CARLO! ClOuD ftw!!!!! :) (and dont lose motivation again when u losing sth important :S) |
