Nice nice, really cant wait :) Luckily its only few more days!
First Blood ! JUST EPIC
#54 its Gabriel Tosh dude , the ghost specialist ... :P
#44: I think it's the "Cinematic" version of Psionic Storm....Kerrigan can do that you know...one of her many absurdly broken abilities. It looks a lot like the Invisible Girl's Force Fields from the Fantastic 4 movie, only Blizzard probably made that scene before the first fantastic 4 movie was even released. Obviously the comic was much older though. Infested Kerrigan = Invisible Girl + Succubus + Palpatine
They should put this on television as their commercial. Scrap the 30 second commercial. Run this....now....
pure eye candy, just eye candy! never or hardly played starcraft 1, but certainly after watching such pure quality animation and grasping a bit of the storyline i must say im amazed...just stunning and I want more! now.. i really need to get the storyline downright b4 SC2 going retail, but can anyone recommend any websites having the whole storyline of starcraft till now, which follow ingame storyline chronologically? i know there is a wiki for it...
So THAT is where the 100 million dollar budget went lmao. Looks unbelievable.
Wow...just wow
#83... Heavy SC vanilla and broodwar spoilers follow.... You really should read the SC vanilla game manual and play the campaign, the wiki is pretty good, if I remember right, but doesn't catch every detail. Also, there are some slight discontinuities in the story and lore from the original starcraft and broodwar. For example, in the Zerg campaign, the Overmind claims to be "countless millenia old" and claims the Xel Naga temple on Aiur is "older by far". Then in the Protoss campaign in Broodwar, Zeratul claims to have served the Dark Templar matriarch for "several millenia". At the begining of the second mission in the protoss campaign in BW, it was revealed that it had even been "Many decades" since the last time Zeratul had even visited Shakuras. This would make Zeratul several thousand years old, like older than Elrond in LOTR old.... Here is the gist of the background of Starcraft. The Protoss A ridiculously advanced, ancient space-faring alien race calling themselves the Xel Naga decided they wanted to play god and make the "ultimate" species, so they started looking around the galaxy abducting other races and experimenting on them. Eventually, they found the protoss, realized they were telepathic and had certain genetic qualities that the Xel Naga liked, and then geneticly modified them to have "perfect physical form" and further "Psionic" abilities. In any case, the original in-game lore consistently had Protoss with extremely long life spans of ranging from ~400 years to several thousand years. As an example, Fenix is 368 years older than Jim Raynor, which put him around 396 years old....which is older than the average Borg life span in Star Trek. They simply do not get sick and never seem to die except through murder. After some period of time, perhaps hundreds of years, perhaps thousands, it's not exactly clear, the Protoss discovered they were being experimented on by the Xel Naga and rebelled against them. The Protoss themselves expanded throughout the galaxy, and a further remark by Zeratul near the end of the SC vanilla campaign implies that they have even visited alternate universes. The Xel Naga were also disgusted with the protoss anyway due to the warring factions which developed within the protoss. This lead the Xel Naga to consider the protoss experiment a "failure" and they left Aiur. The Zerg After the "failure" with the protoss, the Xel Naga traveled to another part of the galaxy, to the planet Zerus, the TRUE Zerg Homeworld, which is never seen in the campaign. Here they found a small, possibly microscopic insect: the original Zerg strain. The main characteristics the Xel Naga liked about the Zerg were their genetic diversity and their "purity of essence," possibly implying an already latent collective nature to the Zerg. In order to avoid the problems they had with the Protoss, the Xel Naga decided to shape the psionic abilities of the Zerg into a collective sentience: The Overmind. Unfortunately for the Xel Naga, the Overmind became far smarter than they ever realized or intended, and it began to consciously evolve the Zerg into biological weapons, and then it too rebelled against the Xel Naga...and won. The Zerg original strain could burrow into the flesh of host organisms, controlling their minds and mutating them to their whims, and also absorbing their genetics into their own, making themselves have access to every gene that ever existed. It is stated in the Starcraft game manual words to this effect, "The greater majority of Xel Naga race was assimilated by the Zerg" Paraphrasing. This is seen later on when the Overmind appears to have almost omniscient knowledge of the protoss, before ever engaging them...except for one strange factor, it paradoxically doesn't know exactly where the planet Aiur is, but once it gets to Aiur, it seems to know everything about the planet... The Zerg are a purely biological race with no machinery, yet "somehow" they have access to warp drives, and have weapons and armor that are "on par" with the most advanced Protoss technologies....and by the way, the Zerg's only goal is to absorb all life into itself, especially the Protoss and any Terrans that get in the way. Because the Overmind was dismayed at the Protoss' Psionic abilities, it wanted to make sure it had something as good or better to fight the protoss, so it looked around for an "intermediate" race to assimilate to find the genetics it needed: This was the terrans, especially Ghosts, and specifically Sarah Kerrigan (Jim Raynor's girlfriend, but they only knew each other for a short while). Terrans Of course, they are us, humans. They got in the Koprulu sector (the part of the galaxy where most of the action is taking place,) by accident. All of these characters are decendents of a group of prison colony ships that got lost in space and eventually populated several planets. The Terrans are "somewhere" around Star Trek to Star Wars Galactic Empire technology level, but it hard to pin it down exactly. They have warp drives, but for some reason still use hibernation sleep, even though they don't appear to actually "need" it. The old terran government that controlled most of the terran planets was called the "confederacy" and they were pretty much communistic. They had a terrible war with the Terran planet Korhal, and eventually nuked the surface with many, many gigaton class nuclear weapons. Arcturus Mengsk presented himself as a "freedom fighter," avenging Korhal and overthrowing the Confederacy, with the help of the naive Kerrigan and Raynor, but in reality he was a hitler-like dictator in the making. Mengsk has pointedly stated, "I will not be stopped by anyone. Not by you or the confederates or the zerg or the protoss. I will RULE this sector or see it burnt to ashes around me!" Throughout the campaigns, we see that Mengsk is willing to make any deal to stay in power or regain power, and will go to any lengths to stay in power. He uses psionic homing beacons as a super weapon to lure the Zerg to attack. He nukes at will. He betrays and abandons Sarah Kerrigan on the orbital platform above Tarsonis, with Raynor on board the ship and unable to help her. Kerrigan is assumed dead by all (especially the audience.) Shortly after this, Raynor quits Mengsks group, and Mengsk starts a war against Raynor's loyal factions. However, it is too late. Mengsk has gained complete control of most of the Terran factions in the Koprulu sector, organizing them into a single Terran Empire called the "Dominion," and crowning himself "Emperor". When the Zerg discovered the Terrans, they infested several planets, but the Protoss had discovered the Zerg by then and were prepared for this. However, the protoss practiced a philosophy of total war, and rather than rescue the terrans, they completely annihilated all life on the surface of the planets via heavy bombardment and plasma weapons from space. This offended Kerrigan because she was against the use of such indescriminant types of attacks, as seen with the conflicting views between herself and Mengsk. However, she reluctantly goes along with Mengsk plan to destroy the Terran military at Tarsonis by tricking the Zerg into helping them. Kerrigan agrees to fight against the Protoss who have come to completely destroy the planet, because she believes Mengsk wouldn't possibly go so far as to infest or destroy the entire planet. She sees Mengsk as the lesser of two evils, but she is wrong. Mengsk betrays her to the Zerg after the protoss "decon" unit led by Tassadar is defeated. As stated, everyone thinks she is dead, but she isn't. The Overmind captured Kerrigan and mutated her into "the greatest of his minions". She was completely under the Overmind's control, and yet at the same time somehow has a mind of her own too. She gains even more telepathic abilities, and goes on a rampage, helping the Zerg destroy several protoss and terran bases. The infested Kerrigan unit in the game is literally so powerful that with some micro and hit and run tactics, she can often solo win entire missions, "rambo" style....even in cases where the enemy has a full base and building units. At first, After the Assimilation of Kerrigan as the "Queen of Blades," the Zerg easily defeat the protoss where ever they encounter them, infesting much of the surface of Aiur, but the Zerg do have one weakness which Zeratul discovered, which was assassinating the Cerebrates (giant immortal brain-like creatures that the overmind uses to control the Zerg.) However, the majority of the Protoss Conclave are extremely traditional, and consider the Dark Templar to be traitors and blasphemy. When the Judicator caste discoves that Tassadar has learned to be both a Dark Templar and a High Templar, they are outraged and label him a traitor and kick him out of office, and eventually arrest and imprison him. So the protoss turn on one another and nearly do the Zerg's job for them fighting over Tassadar and Zeratul. Here, we are talking "Return of the Jedi", with capital ships, mass Dragoons, Reavers, and Arbiters blasting the hell out of one another in TWO of the larger "build and destroy" missions in Starcraft. So angry are the two factions at one another that they seem to completely forget the Zerg even exist, even as they are losing the war with the Zerg, and just go in an all out war with one another. After the first war, Tassadar is appalled at the destruction the Protoss have wrought on themselves, and surrenders himself to the Conclave. However, with nothing else to do anyway, Fenix and Zeratul declare war again in order to rescue Tassadar, because without his help they can't defeat the Overmind anyway. Finally, Tassadar is freed and he and Zeratul brief the other protoss on just who and what the Overmind is. They devise a strategy to kill the Cerebrates. Once Zeratul and Tassadar manage to kill several cerebrates, the Overmind becomes confused enough that the Protoss are able to assault him directly. Although the last mission of SC is actually sort of easy, the lore implies the protoss just BARELY defeat the overmind at the last battle...with the help of Jim Raynor's terran faction. After seeing the success of the destruction of the Cerebrates, the Judicator caste contacts Zeratul and Tassadar's faction, apologizing to them for their crimes against them, but they don't appear to have any troops to spare to send backup. The protoss executor Tassadar sacrifices himself to finish off the Overmind by channeling his Dark Templar power through the hull of the super-capital ship Gantrithor(about 10 kilometers long or so,) and rams it into the overmind. Hmmm...that's my summary of SC Vanilla campaign. I missed a lot of things, to be sure.
Wow, I can't even start to describe how AWESOME that video is.
i want "STARCRAFT the MOVIE". HOLYWOOD please , take a look into our game... fuck AVATAR, STACRAFT MOVIE will kick ass.....
Soooo AWESOME
#88: To be honest, I actually felt like Avatar was a bit of a Fern Gully ripoff mixed with a bad Starcraft ripoff, mixed with a bad ripoff of Braveheart. It was in many ways almost an exact copy of Fern Gully, but with character name swaps. I mean the whole "destroy the great tree" thing was pathetic. Although Blizzard kinda did the same thing in War3, but it was somehow better in warcraft 3 than in that movie.... I was not impressed with Avatar at all. ON a scale of 1 to 10... Avatar: Originality: 0 Execution: 0 (can I give it worse than Zero?) Eye Candy: 8 Script: 4 Acting: 5 Suspension of Disbelief: 0* * Certain scenes in the movie are actually so pathetically unbelievable that they belong in a high fantasy movie, not a science fiction movie. This looked like something out of the Floating Continent scene from Final Fantasy 6, which that actually worked for Kefka and Gestahl, but it sucked in Avatar because no explaination, logical or fantastic, about how a mountain could be flying is ever given. ** How the aliens could have such ridiculously advanced nueral networks, both in their own physiology and all of the life on the planet, yet have no technology at all above stone age technology, not even "zerg like" technology, is completely beyond belief and comprehension. It actually made the movie painful to watch some "dumber than Ewok" aliens that somehow have planet-wide super computers integrated into all life trying to fight mechs and capital scale ships. *** The blasphemous "Eywah," which is the name of the supercomputer the aliens believe to be a god, is a scramble of "Yahweh". **** It's FERN GULLY.
Well, with the introduction of so many new characters in just the cinematics, Blizzard better be doing some SERIOUS in-briefing and in-game character developement in the campaigns. I really demand "Better than Desler quality" character dialogues and development, because Honestly Desler did a better job in this respect with his campaigns than Blizzard did with the original Starcraft and Broodwar (or even warcraft 3 for that matter). With the amount of space available on modern disks, and the amount of time Blizzard has spent on this game, the character development and enteractions throughout the campaign should be "Star Wars Trilogy quality," (and NOT talking about the prequels,) which the original game did not really have as much as it should have, because they focused too much on "build and destroy" missions. I'm hoping for cutscenes and "dynamic objective" missions like Auspex' "Boomerang," which used one map to play three seperate missions in rapid succession, in which the player actually controls all factions at one time or another, with cutscenes between them, etc. This was an incredibly original mission. There were virtually no dynamic objective missions in Starcraft or Broodwar, except the installation missions. There weren't even that many in Warcraft 3, to be honest.
I watched it over a hundred times already, I even downloaded the video and showed it to my friends, we kept on replaying it on and on and on.
Who's the new girl that's hot for Raynor anyway? The Medivac Pilot? or the Banshee pilot?
OMFG!!!!!!!! <3 really amazing, this is EPIC!
awseome and unbeatable ^^
#93 her name is Dr. Ariel Hanson, you can find her in the laboratory of the Hyperion during campaigns. #91 I think you'll enjoy the interactiveness on board the Hyperion then...they've put a lot of work into every mission to make it both fun and different than the previous missions as well. 0:23-0:55 has a total BSG feel to it hahaha...even the bombing of gettysburg is reminiscent of the nuking of caprica...
Kerrigan?![]() |
must.... play... single... player
Woot. "New" video cards just arrived. Time to install those babies pronto.
must play single player campaign....
