Now that Korean progamers only have a few more days to get a guaranteed key, Battle.net is updating its StarCraft 2 section, and Blizzard is broadcasting its press conference, the closed beta may be right around the corner.

According to the Korean website ThisIsGame.com, progamers have been given the deadline of January 26th to sign up for beta testing. Though this isn’t a clear sign as to the date of the beta, the rumors are that it can’t be far away. ThisIsGame.com also estimates that for Blizzard to keep the release date for Wings of Liberty to be in Q2 of 2010, the beta couldn’t be any later than March.

In similar news, Battle.net has recently activated the StarCraft 2 logo that leads to its support page, and the previously grayed out icon is now available for clicking. The support section mostly covers issues with the Blizzard Downloader, but also has topics regarding crashes, sound problems, and graphical errors for StarCraft 2. Again, while this is no guarantee that the date for beta is going to be soon, it is certainly a step forward in the process.

It is common knowledge that the closed beta was originally said to start this past summer, and its postponement has frustrated many fans. But with Blizzard’s press conference on February 10th, 2010, the community has something to look forward to. We don’t know for sure if the date for beta will actually be announced, since Blizzard has only said that it is going to release its fourth quarter and calendar year 2009 results. But with the timing, and the fact that the press conference will be broadcast live over the internet, expectations are high for that announcement.
