Phew August was insane! Nearly every major tournament had something going on. WCS North American continentals, MLG Summer, IEM and more. I'm sorry to report that there will be no rest in September for you die hard Starcraft 2 fans. Grab your thunder sticks and fan signs and let's dive into some serious competition.

Note: Players for each competition are subject to change before the actual date. Players may be added via open brackets as well as additional qualifiers and certain players might be replaced for various reasons or will not be able to attend.

SK Planet Proleague Season 2 Playoffs


The SPL season 2 is the first to include SC2 as well as Brood War in order to ease the transition. Eight teams started out the competition all the way bac in May, and the main playoffs are to start at the first of September, with the grand finals on the 22nd.

A best of three where each match is both SC2 and BW, KeSPA Team 8 will play against SK Telecom T1 on the 1st, 2nd and 4th if needed to determine who will go up against CJ Entus on the 7th, 9th, and 11th if needed. The final showdown will be against Samsung KHAN as a best of one on the 22nd of September.

North American Star League Season 4


The NASL is starting on September 12th. The big tournament boasts 45 players, four of them from the qualifiers. The last qualifier is to be played on the 1-2 of September and then we'll have our full cast of players, competing for an undisclosed prize pool.

TeamLiquid StarLeague 4 (Semifinals and Finals)


The TSL is finally at it's closing stages. Only the semifinals at the 1st of September and the finals on the 8th remain. 32 competitors started playing almost two months ago for the $34,500 prize pool and now only four remain for the title. The finals will be broadcast live from New York City.

Global Starcraft II League Season 4


GSL Code S is starting with 32 players and a prize pool of $150,000 looming over the entire event including Code A. Eight groups of four players each will compete from the 3rd to the 13th of September for a place at the round of 16, held from the 19th to the 27th. Code A should start at some point in September as the entire tournament progresses towards the finale in October.

Global Gaming Alliance Cup qualifiers #10 / #11


The GGA SC2 Global Tournament is a 32 player competition with $5000 and products up for grabs. 16 invited players and 16 that qualify via the global weekly qualifiers will duke it out at the grand finals expected in December. During the month of September the last two of the South East qualifiers, number ten and eleven, will be played out on the 5th and 27th.

IGN Pro Team League Season 1


The IPTL's first season started on the 15th of August with no known end date. The huge tournament boasts 42 teams in three divisions with a complex system. Most matches are played in a Round Robin or Single elimination where the format is always All-Kill. The Contender Division matches are scheduled to start at the 13th of September through the 28th of September and into October. The Premier Division starts it's matches slightly earlier in September with matches happening on the 11th, 18th, 19th, 25th, 26th and into October.

The Premier Division holds two groups of four teams each where the winner go off to compete in the playoffs for the unannounced prize pool. The bottom four will drop to the Up & Down matches, and will compete at a place on next season's Premier Division, along with the winners from the Contender Division which also hold 8 teams. In a similar fashion, the Amateur Division teams play for a shot at the Contender Division for next season.

Dreamhack Open: Valencia


Dreamhack's third stop this 2012 season is in Valencia, Spain. 128 players will try their hardest to get at the ~$22,000 prize pool (150,000 Swedish Kronor) in the two day grand tournament.

Intel Extreme Masters VII - Global Challenge Guangzhou


The second event for IEM season seven will return to Guangzhou, China. Starting just at the end of the month, 24 players will compete for an unannounced prize pool.

OnGameNet Starleague (Round of 16)


16 players remain in the OSL. After several disputes in the eSports scene that caused the ESF players to boycott the OSL, things were looking grim for the competition with only 9 players agreeing to play. Luckily, the dispute was settled as parties reached agreement and we'll have ourselves a great tournament. The matches are ongoing throughout September as the players compete for an unannounced prize pool.
