WGTour MatchCast #9

[s]wgt[/s]

WGTour's Clan League is almost over. Their new season should be coming up soon. But as a little extra WGTour host a very interesting event called the WGTour MatchCast. This is now the 9th MatchCast.

The winner of WGTour's last matchcast Poland 3D.SunCow will be playing once again to defend the MatchCast title. SunCow defeated Canada rS.LoCo in the last series 3 wins to 2 loses. Now SunCow is back and at it again, this time versus another type of North American. SunCow's next opponent is from the United States United States, he is a Terran gamer, and is only 17 years of age. SunCow will have the pleasure of playing United States EchoOfDream this Saturday at 18:00 CET.

The MatchCast is a best of five series, on five different maps. The maps will be something like Lost Temple, Neo Requiem 2.0, Dahila of Jungle, Nostalgia, and Gaema Gowan.

Some people may not know who exactly EchoOfDream is, so I took the liberty of tracking him down and asking a few questions that may help the community get to know the new incomer better.

Interview of United States EchoOfDream

To start off for all the people ready who are not familiar with who you are, please tell us your Name, Age, Brood War Race, and your Nationality.
- Michael McClelland/17/Terran/Filipino American I guess

How long have you been playing Brood War for? What made you pick the race Terran?
- I first started to play brood war when it first came out. Back then I just played the campaign and maybe 10 or 15 games online and then I stopped. I later reinstalled Brood War maybe when I was in 9th grade or so when I heard a couple of friends played it. I think that was about when 1.10 patch came around. I mainly chose terran because I fell in love with Boxer

How many hours a day do you spend actually playing the game, and training for whatever event you chose to be in. Like for instance, how long have you been training for World Cyber Games?
- I probably play around 5 or 6 hours a day now during the summer since I pretty much had a crappy vacation and I?fm doing nothing now at home. But during school I probably play less and play majority of my hours during the weekend. For the world cyber games I didn?ft practice that much for and it showed at regionals ;p I probably played 15~20 games practicing for WCG in all.
Wait no .... I play tons of games now during summer
I lied to you

Let's talk more about WCG. In Virginia, you did very well, as I witnessed first hand. How would you rate your Preliminary performance this year? And than what happened at Regionals?
- I wouldn't say I did very well at WCG Virginia. Nyoken showed up and he's my curse ... or tvt is at least! He knocked me into loser?fs bracket and then I met him again in the finals. From there I went to regionals and what do u know ... I played Nyoken first round again. It was single elimination so I was out of the competition after I played 3 games. I should have practiced more. It was my fault.

Yeah, damn Nyoken, he takes out the best of us. Anyways recently you played in the TANL event, how was that to participate in?
- It was extremely fun, challenging, and it was a great experience. I got to meet a lot of good players in it and play them as well. I was pretty lucky to get invited to the event also. I just happened to be in right place at right time and played the right game on PGT I was happy that I got 5th place though. I was thinking I would get eliminated in groups/
/me does the Harlem shake

Well it would seem that things worked out for you. But, a lot of people still underestimate you. I noticed just skimming through the comments of the WGTour news that a lot of people either did not know you, or did not think you were fit to play versus SunCow. What do you think? Do you think you are fit or... do you think otherwise?
- Ya well... I would probably say the same if I was in their shoes. I?fm a newcomer on the scene and I haven't proven myself yet. I hope to change that though in the future and prove myself. I'm going into this match with a clear heard and no expectations though ^^ and at least no one is counting on me to win ... so no pressure

That is a good thing at times. Well I hope the best of luck to you this coming up Saturday.
- Thanks! Can I make a shout out?!

Well, sure
- Shout out to whiteflame, Lovelyrose who taught me everything I know, Vdp fgtz and iG.Drunkentiger = e-thug 4 lyfe
Dimsum told me to say that

Also, one more thing. If you would like to listen to the live shout cast make sure to tune in at 18:00 CET this Saturday, you won't want to miss a second.
