Clanbase Round 4 results

clanbase.gifThe fourth round of the Clanbase Nations Cup in StarCraft: Brood War officially ended yesterday. Some of the nations haven't fought their fourth match yet, as you can see in the lists. The cup has only three rounds left, and then we will see a playoff, where the top nations will take part in a Single Elimination Tournament. We can already see some nations who are taking a clear lead in their groups.

An interesting note in this round is that Brazil Brazil replaced United States USA in Group C. They took over USA's stats, and their schedule.

These are the games from Round 4:

Standings
Group AWin/LossMatches
1. Australia Australia 4-0 17/11
2. Poland Poland 4-0 24/3
3. Sweden Sweden 3-1 21/7
4. Finland Finland 2-1 12/9
5. United Kingdom United Kingdom 1-3 11/16
6. Greece Greece 1-3 10/18
7. Denmark Denmark 0-3 5/16
8. Slovakia Slovakia 0-4 4/24

As we can see in the list, Australia and Poland are in the lead with an impressive win streak of 4. Sweden is one win behind, and will have to defeat Poland in order to make it to the playoffs. If Finland win their game versus Denmark, they will also have a chance to make it to the finals, if they manage to beat both Sweden and Australia. This group is still open, a lot can happen with three rounds left.

Group BWin/LossMatches
1. Canada Canada 3-0 17/4
2. Hungary Hungary 3-1 17/11
3. Russia Russia 2-1 14/7
4. France France 2-1 13/8
5. Norway Norway 1-2 11/10
6. Croatia Croatia 1-2 5/16
7. Romania Romania 0-2 4/10
8. Turkey Turkey 0-3 3/18

In Group B we see that Canada is in the lead, with 3 wins and no losses. They were supposed to face France in this round, but it looks like it has been forgotten. A lot can happen in the top 4 with three rounds left. In the next round, Canada will face Hungary, which is a very important game for both players. Norway is having bad luck; all of their games are very even, but they have only managed to get one win. Next week they will go up against Romania, one of the bottom nations in this group.

Group CWin/LossMatches
1. Germany Germany 4-0 25/3
2. Belarus Belarus 4-0 19/9
3. Italy Italy 3-1 15/13
4. Czech Republic Czech Republic 2-1 13/8
5. Mexico Mexico 1-2 10/11
6. Brazil Brazil 1-3 12/16
7. Lithuania Lithuania 0-4 8/20
8. Latvia Latvia 0-4 3/25

Germany and Belarus are both going strong with 4-0. Germany has only lost three games in the four rounds, making them the best team statistically together with Spain in Group D. Belarus is a bit of a surprise, beating Italy with 4-3. They have also beaten Lithuania and Latvia. My gut tells me that Belarus and Germany are the ones to count with in the playoffs, if not Brazil will shape up their stats they've got from USA leaving.

Group DWin/LossMatches
1. Spain Spain 4-0 25/3
2. Netherlands Netherlands 4-1 22/13
3. Ukraine Ukraine 3-1 17/10
4. Argentina Argentina 2-3 16/19
5. Serbia and Montenegro Serbia and Montenegro 1-2 9/11
6. Estonia Estonia 1-2 8/13
7. Portugal Portugal 0-4 9/19
8. Belgium Belgium 0-4 5/23

Spain and Netherlands are doing really good. Netherlands, with one more game played, started on the fifth round yesterday versus Argentina, a match that they won quite easily. Spain is ranked first, since in the first round they beat Netherlands due to walkover. Portugal and Belgium are doing really bad, four straight losses. They have no chance to make it to the playoffs, since there's only three rounds left.
