I bet korean casters are bunch noobs (2409 reads, 12 replies, 4 months ago)
Koreans players are pretty strong but their casters are sure a bunch of noobs to be honest. I have never seen some of them playing a game or anything like that and since sc2 is out i see so many different casters. in wc3 it was always this women and this kinky dude with glasses for like 5 years or something i dont know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ehQs91_bGE lolmao

With europeans or americans its different most them were former pro gamers like rotterdamm and are at least masters in bnet. Artosis for example was nothing special for me cuz i am a wc3 player but since i saw some of his stream i think this dude is dame good for a caster. He even plays at masters in korean ladder. Tasteless i dont know in a docu they mentioned he was a broodwar pro too.

I think korean people look at it more like sport so they care more about how the casters speak, they want to make every match entertaining by sounding entertaining. I think this is stupid and annoying, its funny for like 5 minutes and thats it. Its also wrong lame games can be represented how they want they are lame and shouldnt be hyped. Thats not the case with western casters they are just honest and say it clear out if a gamer is gonna lose soon. And like i said this casters are trained to dramatize and cry when they ever want but they are noobs.

I think in homestory cup it was funny they almost havent used any professional caster except rotterdam and mr bitter, most of the times it was actually players who casted, incontroll was funny, everyone was good. And the korean players were quite funny as well.
For me these 3 or any other of the players could cast the whole gsl instead of this fake gamers, would be funnier, more professional and it would cost less. I bet these korean casters make huge money there without contributing anything to the scene beyond the observation.

Yeah dont take this too seriously but there is a clear distance to the korean casters for us non koreans sure we dont understand what they are talking about other than that they go nuts, but we dont know anything of them, never saw them play, never saw them stream, dont know their bnet profiles, we not even know their names and it seems they dont care about it either.

What do you want to accomplish by creating such topic? I doubt they are noobs but even if they were and the Koreans like them, does it really matter all that much?

I think this needs to be locked, it will just become troll/flame fest.

These noobs talk about nothing but imbalance, they don't even know SC2 terminology or even the pronounciation of half the words.
Real noobs.

There are not a lot of very good casters nowadays and I am not sure people want to listen to insight analyses everytime they watch a stream. As long as the casters are entertaining...

That's one of the reasons for which I love HomeStory Cup. Everyone gets to cast a game, be it players, staff or Foxy, a person that people did not even know before that event.

By the way, thanks TaKe and his staff for organizing such a great event <3 I wish I was attending....

The fact that this isn't closed, says something about the gosugamers forums. :)

Well i have always wonderd about this too.

especially Khaldor and Mori two german casters who were former WC3 casters.

I have no clue how good they actually are at SC2
Somehow those 2 are the most famous German SC2 casters
To mee it feels like they barely have any bigger understanding of the game and are mid diamond at most.

I could be wrong but listening to Rotterdam who is a ~ masters Protoss himself u can really experience such a different way of casting.
U get so much more information about the strategic background of the descisions players make while with Khaldor and Mori they just talk about what u can see anyways.

for me Rotterdam and Hasuobs is the best casting duo :)

i dont know much about korean commentators in sc2 but they were definately amazing in scbw (most casters being former osl/msl winners).

As for sc2, I just started watching vods of the recent Up/Down GSL in Korean (cuz Im not a huge fan of Code A casters) and I thought they did well, at least well enough for me to think that they were better than their Code A english counterparts,
