Opening replay "map could not be found" (3763 reads, 22 replies, 5 months ago)
i tried to open this replay and i got the following message

The map file associated with the replay file could not be found.

Please make sure the map file 'Maps\download\DotA 6.72f_2.w3x' used by the recorded games exists and try again.

i tried to rename the folder and the map file according to above, but still i got the same message, any idea anyone??

Try to check it back again.

Go to Maps\download [If u didn't have this folder then make it.And paste the 6.72f map into it]

Rename your DotA 6.72f.w3x to DotA 6.72f_2.w3x.

I think it will work.

You need to download the 6.72f map (probably again) and try putting it into your "replays" folder again. See if it works.

read carefully what it says. one time it happened to me that i had folder "Download" and it required folder "Downloads" so it didnt recognize it. i fixed it by adding one "s" :) try with that

Well then - try deleting WC3 and everything off, and then re-installing.

I had the same problem, I was 100% sure the path name was correct and I used version switcher to have to correct version for watching the replay yet it didnt work.

After reading this topic, I deleted the map and just recopied it into the same folder and it worked. Don't ask me why, but it is worth trying.

Good luck!

OP, have you tried #14's suggestion. Seems like a legit solution to your problem.

Hmmm, perhaps you did not switch to the correct version?

A lot of replays (recent ECL) show version 1.24, but it is actually version 1.24e, so if you just use version 1.24 it will not work.

Make a doublecheck on this, if all of the above did not work!

if you don't use the correct version you can't open the replay...and if you can open the replay he doesn't work....the problem is with the map folder...and i dont know why we can't get the correct solution...there are many people who can watch replay and dont give a suggestion
