#1 Yeah, I was wondering that too, it must be a mistake...

Also, three Koreans, three Terrans, probably one of them will take it.

Wow, it IS 3 koreans, but none of them in the same group together, and none in the same group with Idra or Huk either...

So uh, none of them will be knocking one another off early, I presume?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I've ever heard of anyone in group H at all, except Supernova.

Korean probably sweeps group H without a game loss, nevermind any match loss...

Probably end up being 2 Koreans final, unless Huk or Idra can avoid being KO'd, and then pull off the upset...

I don't keep up with the pro scene as much as other people on here, so no, I haven't heard of them.

I might have seen a replay of Reason once, now that I think of it, but wouldn't know for sure.

Maybe that makes me look silly, but I don't recognize them from winning any major events, that's for sure.

===

Map pool is all 4 start locations macro maps.

Taldarim Altar is practically a "Money Map". It also has a map resource imbalance in the Start locations, in which some mineral nodes are off by one space from where they SHOULD be compared to the mirror image of the adjacent opposing base. Thus, mineral collection rate is not exactly the same in the 4 bases...

I thought there was no US qualifier so how did Idra get there? Is he (EG) paying the travel costs plus the entrance thing?

Babyk's breakout tournament?

MVP, MKP, Idra, Huk seem to be the obvious favorites.

Sen, Elfi, Supernova, Kiwikaki if he is practicing these days,
all seem to have a fair chance to place good.

Edit
#11 yes. There has been a minor shitstorm for that.

Both Idra and Huk are being paid for by Eg to participate.Neither qualified.

Infact Huk did not even qualify from Canada, he fell asleep and missed his match and got knocked out and Kiwikaki qualified for Canada.

And its expensive too, from what I gathered.

#14 It really doesn't matter if someone wins it if he can't play at the WCG. It is probably what happened with Nerchio. He had to go/play somewhere else at that time so he gave spot to the Slider.

F91, Xigua and Macsed could be some upsets for some well-known players. And I think it's not hard for them to step forward to next stage. 2of them could enter top 8(probally Macsed gonna leave first since he's not the best protoss in China), Xigua is possible to enter top 4 for solid performance. As for F91, leave first or stay last...most inconsistent player ever.

Despite of korean players,I am still think white players like Idra and Huk are overally overrated, maybe because they don't have good winning ratios against Chinese players.

So pity my favourite zerg Dimaga failed to qualify....

#16 what?
Im the farthest thing from an EG fanboy but saying they are overrated because they dont have a good win/loss ratio against the Chinese is kinda dumb.

The last time I remember Idra playing the Chinese before IEM China was at some LAN in China ages ago, I remember Idra lost and complained that everybody could hear the shoutcasters shouting in Chinese while playing and it was unfair since the Chinese players could obviously understand what was being said. You normally see him rage but he never blames conditions outside the game, this was one of the few exceptions I saw and he has improved by miles since that time. Basing your analysis on that result it does not make sense.

Idra ofc won the more recent IEM in China where no Chinese player even made it to the playoffs.

Huk has been a tournament specialist off late. His ladder play, even on the rare occasions he bothers to ladder has been pathetic. Gets owned by Korean Masters, I dont think his skill level is at where it was 1-2 months ago but I would still put him top 8 in the world in tournaments. I assume his daunting schedule is to blame but you cant write him off just yet. He has fantastic stage play, one of the best, never loses his cool, one of the main factors for him retaining his Code S spot. I dont see him winning WCG but he will still place good imo.

Sorry buddy but theres way too much talent here for any of the Chinese players to place high, 4 Code s level players + Idra + the other big players.

Idra lost for unfair noise? Cmon, none of Chinese players in that event have more offline experience than him.And noise couldn't help Chinese players either, even that migt be useful.

Idra and Huk attend amost every event this year. Not spurise to see these 2 guys grasp some titles.

Besides I have to tell you something in IEM6 , none of 3 Chinese candidates qualified in China region, the ones should be there attended other domestic events and gave up their slots. I am not saying YHY,Xigua and Jim are not strong but obviously they were not in good shape in that events(even fail to qualify in China). And if I remember correctly, Idra coud hardly pass through in group match and he was taken down by Jim,a 15-years-old Chinese boy.

Surely I don't think Chinese players are strong enough to reach the WCG final even semi-final mainly because they were lack of big event experience and SC2 was published one year later than rest of the world. But you don't know how fast they catch up with the world.

I am not eu hater, at least now I am not.I am also a big fan of Dimaga
and admire some other talented Eu players. I am not gonna to start a flame either. I just wanna some ppl to pay some attention to Chinese players especially Chinese fellows but not treat them like passers. They really need our supports.

#18 Not unfair noise.

He said all the players could hear what the Chinese shoutcasters were saying while playing the game, so only the Chinese players in game could understand what was being said which gave them an unfair advantage.
Cmon my point is not that hard to understand.

Idra and Huk grasp titles not because they "go to a lot of tournaments", but because they have scary talent. You saying they win only because they attend a lot of the major tournaments makes me doubt your reasoning ability in this matter and regarding the Chinese scene.

I don't doubt China has immense talent, but so do a lot of other countries. But almost since the beta, Chinese have always topped the world ladder rankings with the most games etc etc.

Its clearly not the lack of practice or talent that is holding them back but the lack of sponsors and exposure to the scene outside of China. I don't doubt if the Chinese Sc2 scene grows it will be a force to be reckoned with, especially with the huge potential player base, but I don't see it happening any time soon. Hopefully with the release of HOTS things will change.
