What is wrong with gg.net? (3850 reads, 29 replies, 6 months ago)
First of all I am not sure if I am posting it in the right forum.

The thing is what is wrong with the adds in gg.net?
I know some people already turned off the add upload by some manual way, but I haven't.

To be frank is wasn't expecting this retarded adds which I normally get to see when I visit some low class site.

Just a sincere request to the Technical/Developing crews to make the site clean.

For some of you who cant see the images here they are:

Guys thanks for reporting.

Please keep in mind that we do not deal with advertisers directly but through intermediary firms who manage 1000s of clients, and in multiple markets. I dont know how crap like that slips through but as long as you report them to us we can do something about it so much appreciation for that!

Please understand that we are not even served all the ads that we serve in turn ourselves so we rely on you guys to report things to us so that we can improve.

We also rely on ads to run the site (servers, development, events), send correspondents to live events and everything else that goes into it.

If you use an adblocker, then it hurts our revenue. If you are using it because some ads are bugging you, then we urge you to work with us, and report them instead. Our intention is not to serve annoying ads =)

Cheers
E

I never use adblock or any similar program just because i think that it is just a fair deal to support those giving me free content by having these ads displayed on my screen. But just like my previous poster i feel like the following ad should not be on this site (Yes i am an adult and thereby technically allowed and mature enough to view such material but since i am not the only user on here I thought that it might be inappropriate for several other users.
If you are not able to Disable/take down this ad i completely understand but if it is at all possible to do so i would highly recommend doing it just for the safety of the younger viewers here.

Also here is the link to the picture (and yes i am talking about the ad in the middle of the screen)

#10 - Thank you very much for the way you put it - a lot of the time the discussions on a site like GosuGamers.net can be very offensive or defensive without any real good reason. We´re all human beings and we can communicate on a good level with each other until we cannot anymore. I much appreciate the tone and message you are trying to convey.

I already sent a very stern email to the guy who handles all of our ads on GG.net, unfortunately it works like this:

- We have a backfiller ad company, to give us tiny (but needed) revenue from the ads that we are unable to have "proper" campaigns or networks for".

- They in turn, guarantee payment (TIIIIINY) for all ads that they cannot monetize in turn

- We thereby get a few cents for each 1000 impressions that we allow them to take from our inventory

- Unfortunately to cover their own costs, they have to in turn re-sell it to further ad agencies

The problem comes with the many layers of control involved. Normally if a ad network is entirely based on its own inventory of clients and publishers, you can tell them to activate/disable certain ads. But when its literally cent size business for all parts involved, it becomes such a massive admin issue to deal with because its just not reporting the ad to our contact, but he has to try to figure out which network they re-sell to in turn who has that ad, and that network in turn might be re-selling and so it becomes a very tricky investigation.

Ultimately my conclusion for now is, we can do what we can to remove ads that you guys complain about - I am sure there are easier and harder ones to deal with.

We hope you guys understand and appreciate that we´re trying to move away from these many layers, but that it takes time. In the meantime we need to reduce the losses we generate per month (for while I am paying personally, out of pocket) as it does add up to big amounts that we could do far greater things with for the sake of pushing eSports forward - which is our ulterior motive in everything we do.

I hope this sheds some light on this and the matter of ads in general on GG.net

Cheers

The process practically seems a bit blur or should I call it confusing, taking in mind that a lot of people is connected with the process with huge number of adds from which there are selectively few adds which are not supposed to be appearing here.

Obviously Gosugamers wont be a site which I wont visit for its adds content, but why is people happy with isohunt's torrent but pissed with its site content?
The same reason.
It still havent happened to gg.net, which I personally dont want the other way.

Thanks a lot for stepping it up, and yes you can always hope from the loyal users of gg.net to come forward with issues like that.

Cheers. : )

#18. But it raises much-needed revenue to keep GGnet afloat amid tough times.

You wouldn't want one of the best DotA news websites to shut down, would you?
