PvZ How to counter 3 hatch before pool? (4196 reads, 8 replies, 1 year ago)
Hello.

I am C- noob protoss and I have a problem with my pvz.
What should I do when zerg had went 3 hatch before pool and I scouted it late? How do I do then? 3 rd exp seems to risky for me, also its too late for attack, since I went standard tech already... Should I add gateways and upgrade zeal speed, +1 weapons and attack? But its pretty late, he might have mutas then. I cant figure out good counter, so please help me. I dont think replay is required, becouse I just want some advices on this strategy not my overall pvz play. However I can upload it if you find it necessary.

When you find his morphing "3rd before pool", try to make a sneaky canon(s). I rare use this build but everytime I do it some asshole just canon my 3rd and I lose it haha.
Canon play can be really dangerous even when he make even more standart 12 hatch on some maps(Tau Cross).

how can u already have teched when he is making 2 hatches before pool?

you should have nex warping forge done and maybe 1-2 cannons depending on what u scout

or forge cannon/gate

by the time u have that u should have seen his late pool or his 2 hatches
in which case your just fine with a build order?!

I mean, that I already went FE, preparing for tech. My point was, that I am unable to pressure him early enough to do any damage. Once I tried to add 3-4 gates and attack zerg with like 8-10 +1 speedzeals, but it was too late. So I am looking for solution to good counter early enought to punish zerg.

storm vs hydra,cannon until that.simple.and wait that z makes hytapush and after that counter the crap out of him :o) i also have problems pvz vs 3hat hydras if i even try anything else than fast storm.

when he's making 3 hat before pool and u r defensive, avoid cannons until needed, that's how u get same speed as he does

You don't even have to be super sneaky with the cannons actually. Just do a 2pylon at his natural followed by a few cannons. The cannons will be up well before lings are ready, and he'll have to pull a lot of drones to kill the cannons. Just make 2-3 cannons and he's pretty screwed. When the drones have almost killed one cannon, just cancel it and start another. They won't be able to keep up.

Edit: another point, if you haven't found zerg, you should have been safe and gone forge first, I'm assuming.
