Idra losing shape? (3360 reads, 16 replies, 1 year ago)
Lately Idra dropped in GSL quite early again ( compared to expectations)

And on MLG he lost to nazgul and then shortly after lost in loser brackets

well, he may be good. But NOT good enough
with that said, overrated as always, he get alot of hype up from his close friends, tasteless , artosis

He may play very very good some games, when it goes as he planned but, this is starcraft , it doesnt go as you have planned, ever, realisticy speaking.

conclusion, i say he is overhyped, he miss the most important thing as i mentioned vague earlier in the post. He cant read the game

Anyone agree, or maybe disagree, discuss

to be honest... i dont consider idra as one of THE top 10 in the western countries... what did idra actually win besides the kotb? he was in korea and had a pro-license and you have to give him credit for that but in my opinion hes just an not to talanted massgamer which gets his news with flaming about other races and people to get hyped which he defently is!

I don't think he was anywhere near favoured to perform well in the GSL, so getting eliminated would be expected. If you looked at the number of incredible players at MLG, and the fact that you need to play several BO3s against some great talent means that there is little margin for error. Yes, he did win the last MLG, but this time around there were a lot more players and that means a lot more competition.

I think the problem is that people overestimate him as he was in Korea, but in reality he is just a solid player that trains a bit more than most.

He's not losing shape. IdrA is just having a tough time with his consistency. He's always had that. On top of his game, IdrA is probably the best zerg out there (not taking korean zergs into account right now..) on a bad day, he's your average foreign zerg, prone to losing to funky stuff in the early game.

There's a swedish phrase for it and it goes "låg lägsta nivå". Which directly translated means low lowest level (I'm not aware of what it would actually translate into in english i'm sorry). It basically means that when you're playing bad, you're actually playing HORRIBLE. Some players can play "Bad" and yet match their opponents, these are the players who are consistent. Those who lose as soon as they slip up in their play will always have a hard time to perform.

Well that loss from Select was... hmmm whats the right word... unfortunate.

In a straight-up game he would have walked over Select and he knew that, hence the cheese. Shouldnt have messed around in game 1 I guess...

in general i feel that in Sc2 the skill gap is much closer within the TOP 50 foreigners than in BW.
Everybody can lose to anybody in a BO3 between 2 of the TOP 50 foreigners.

Different from sc1 ,SC2 is a game where pure mechanics alone dont make u invincible. A small descision mistake can cost u a game even though your micro/macro might be far superior.

So as a result of SC2 being liek that there is such a big number of TOP players who can all win a tournament.

Morrow
Brat
Socke
Huk
Fenix
Sjow
Idra
Dimaga
ret
White_Ra
TT1
Demuslim
Hasuobs
Jinro
TLO
Kas
Mana
Select
Tarson
Goody
Luciferon
Nony
Painuser
Sen
Strelok
LzGamer
Nani

etc.

Allthough ofc some of these players are a bit better than the others and therefore on average do have more success, i am still pretty sure everyone from that list above can win a Bo3 vs anyone of the same list any given day with just a bit of small luck

Idra has the best mechanical skills amongst all foreigners, I honestly think Zerg doesn't suit him. He doesn't know how to flank or all-in sometimes given that Zerg is a reactionary race. Also Idra always rage and tilt to losing to someone with worse mechanics than he does. After he lost to Nazgul he simply tilted and lost to Select.

Tournaments always don't boil down to skill level, but mentality+handling pressure as well. Idra tilts too much

I don't think idra has any mentality+handling pressure trouble in tounraments as he was already in GSL and some others televised games.

But i'm happy too he lost :D.
Even tho he can be good the constant BMing should just gtfo

Give the guy a break. His performance was unfortunate, but I still think that he's the best foreigner at the moment.Zerg is still very vulnerable to early aggressive cheese plays and there are maps, like Delta Quadrant, that encourage such openings.

Overall, I am really impressed with the European players. Almost all of them did very well. However it is a shame that hacker like TT1 was second.
