Also your only playing worse if you start a game knowing/thinking you will get analed. Play like you are better then your opponent and hes a D- . You will see that your play will be stronger ^^ Also play safe. Especially with terran try going for more macro type build orders that take u into the late game. Dont forget harrass and timing attacks. (Very important to throw your opponent off)

You need to constantly think "What can i do now to hurt him?"
You dont beat me, I decide to lose.

#21 Agree.

Plus you need to constantly think about what your opponent is likely to do, at the moment or later.

Another important advice would be to not lose your mind when things start looking a little grim. Fighting for survival doesn't mean running amok. It means hanging on, hanging on, hanging on. Trying hard to stay alive while looking for some way to win.
Imagine you're trying to finish off your opponent. You want him to be like butter, just cut right through and it's over. What you don't want is him being like tough meat.
When you're behind you have to be like tough meat. And grow some spikes that he notices too late. Ouch.
I'm reading your mind. Think of something.

Decreasing your performance on gaming is a real thing, and can happen by various factors.

Most of the time gamers can decrease they performance by getting affected by personal situations involving their family, school, job and love.

My recommendation is:

Find a new motivation to play
Fix your personal stuff, if not, try to understand that sometimes some things are out of our hands.

Good luck

resting from a game for some time is usually very helpful to your skill . You feel fresh have new ideas and you are ready to fight to the very end .

it works for me at least :P

Funny, i think exactly opposite than #21 When i really try to concentrate and change my mindset (sometimes after a loss streak). I usually NEVER want to underestimate my opponent, and keep in mind all options what he could do to hurt me and then think the counters to all these things.

Usually when i really concentrate, i try to suppress every emotion (except maybe slight annoyed feeling/vehemence nudging at the back of your brain that you WILL win this game) and play like a machine, usually it helps a lot. (even though the playing itself becomes a bit more dull :D) But hey, that's achievement for you.

In short, don't underestimate, always expect the worst, play like you are going to win no matter what he does.

I know, it sounds a bit defensive but I do play terran and usually macro-style at that :D

This is just a suggestion , nonetheless :

If you listen to any of those people here ( including me ) then you are puddled into a box of limitations and you r not thinking for yourself.

You ve got a problem. There is a reason for it. Those people here don`t know you. They spread their subjective bullshits , not even aware that its subjective and not true. This is happening everywhere, all the time.

They say to you : "you need to do x, you need to y , you should z , v is good, go and do m or n" and so on.

Is what they are saying really true ? Think and see for yourself. Remember 99 % true = not true unless you like to go all the way with 1 % bullshit balast. Each time adding another 1 % , 5 % , 20 % , 30 % and so on. Sometimes 1 % is critical, ie rock is 0.0001 % of an avalanche.

A few suggestions :

- who said learning process is constant ? each has his own - and it can vary a lot. most times a switch from cheeze to playing standard causes getting worse results.

- its not uncommon. many people had similar experience.

- one of the main causes is an aimless and quite thoughtless approach to improvement which is very common.

- there is a vast difference between playing standard and learning to execute a great strategy that aims to outmacro opponent - if it is the first then you r a copier who doesn`t understand what is he doing and propably a future whiner, getting mad at any non-standard strategy, especially cheeze.

- there might be many reasons why you play worse but I d suggest taking a look on why you think you play worse first

- it might be possible that you are powering your "worse play" with your approach, thought pattern/belief/behavior system - sometimes something happens 2-3 times - and when it could end there - it doesn`t because you power it with belief/assumption and your psyche repeats it because of it, creating a cycle.

Not so obviously - there aren`t any commonly known good methods to improve. Most people don`t even realize how vastly unevolved and weak methods are they using to improve their skills.

What if I said that its possible to rise your skill from D+ to A in 2-3 weeks time ? In matters of possibility - its possible to do so in 1 day but leave it at 3 weeks - what now ?

Endless sea of thoughless, sensless criticism of conforming , enclosed copists.

Now how does this view relate to the topic of playing worse than before ? I d suggest taking your time to study your approach to improvement, methods to do it and how you r gonna do it ^^

A very important thing is to manage your approach, mentality. If you think that you r playing worse than before - it might affect your ability to play better. Whatever you think and believe about this game can affect it. So be careful with that . I think a non-judgemental approach is good. Simply leave all your expectations, the believes , opinions, assumptions , prejudices - just focus on what you need to do in game - and only on it - and don`t think about it, just do that. It requires doing it , not thinking about it , not asking questions about it, not looking for help with this matter - you need to simply do that.

So if you say and think that you play worse - leave it alone, this is unnecesary and can hinder your abilities. You can just know that you have X wins / X loses statistics from last X games and thats just it, conclusions like "im in slump" are usually bad here.

Well, I hope it helped ^^

Good luck :)
