Blizzard Misses Releases Often? (4068 reads, 27 replies, 2 years ago)
Is it true Blizzard really does miss release dates often? I heard some guys say that on the Battle.net forum. It now looks like we will have a four month beta, which means that delayed release is more likely than if we were to have a 6 months beta. I guess more delays = better game.

#1 doesn't make any sense.

Ï think Blizzard has a tendency to delay their games once in a while. I don't think that a shorter beta period will delay the game, six months of beta would delay it more I think. If they give me a betakey tonight, and start the beta tomorrow, I will drop out of university to game SC2 massively, and find every possible bug so they can fix them as soon as possible. After that, Blizzard will crown me as the king of beta, and they will give me 10% of their monthly income as a reward for the hard work I put down...

That sounds like my daily dreams more than reality in some way... just don't know which part? hmm

I laughed about stupidity of this comment.
And ofc delay = better game, cuz of balance and other things, that is Blizzard. The only company that care about eSport, so their games are not rushed cuz of that. And about delays, hmm well you can see on this pic.

Once in a while? You mean "every game they make"? ;)
WarCraft 3 was almost 2 years delayed or so if I remember correctly.

I think that #2 and #3 did not get my point. It was meant like this: There is some waiting and expectations and ppl are very very interested in the game. Ppl watch the progress and are excited. But if the waiting time reach some point, ppl lose their patience and interest into the game.
You know, ppl get older and change their priorities (more RL and less games maybe?). So do you get my point now?
#3 I didn't talk about rush the game. Ofc game needs its time to balance and so, that's obvious. But we can't wait forever, don't you think?

Yeah... And when it comes to Blizzard, do you really believe that will happen? I mean, the last decade they've only made bestsellers. People losing interest in Starcraft II is not going to happen as long as they keep us updated.

Your post, though, can be backed up by the Starcraft: Ghost case. But they didn't keep us very informed, and it wasn't expected to be that great from the beginning, because let's face it, First Person Shooters are BORING xP

Your point is invalid.

Blizzard has not set a release date, so how can they miss it?
Blizzard has only said they "hope for a late 2009 release". But have also stated they will pro-long it if the came is not yet ready.

This isn't Starcraft: Ghost. Stop hating on Blizz and let em do their magic. You will thank them when its done.

#7 You are wrong. By 2008 I have been to future shop and asked them when will they release SC 2. And the stock manager, who is a friend of mine, told me they got the news it will be released in 2008, so there was a set date. But then it was delayed to late 2009, so how can you say they did not set a date?

Get your fact straight next time when you want to argue please.

He's wrong because you have talked to a stock manager? (LOL)

Theres a huge difference, between "news that it will be released in 2008"
and an actual RELEASE DATE.

Stop acting like idiots. the game will come when it comes, random nerdrage will neither quicken the release nor shorten it.....

And lastly, even if Blizzard postponed the release for another year I sincerely doubt the sales would be affected on a release like this. If anything it would only grow the expectations to even higher levels.......
Nothing is more discouraging than unappreciated sarcasm.

Blizzard will delay the game in the end, TRUST US FANS WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR A LONG LONG TIME, they will miss it, but no one will be angry if we get 10+ years of good play out of it.

StarCraft: Ghost wasn't developed by Blizzard anyway, so shouldn't bring that into the discussion really.

When did Blizzard announce a release date? They said that they are aiming for 09, but has never specified a certain point of time. Or have I missed something?

It seems that some of you think that Blizz intentionally delays the release date to piss of the fans.
They just want to make everything as perfect as possible.

Sure, they could release the beta tommorow, but they want to make a good first impression. They don't want a game with too much bugs and exploits.

Follow your own advice. Blizzard never made a statement saying they will release it in 08.
