omfg they're really turning from the best game company ever into just another one of those greedy, take-away-user's rights, kill usability and ease-of-use, release as many expansions as possible and make money money money companies.
aaaaa! don't they have any sense left?
this is actually all the more reason to use a cracked version of sc2 that will support LAN. my oh my! yes, control-freaky STEAM comes to mind - the worst piece of crap software ever bundled and forced upon gamers.
this is a VERY sad day for SC2.

hopefully someone will offer a rip of the KeSPA version - these guys surely can't be bothered with any online requirements or lags. looking forward to playing SC2 all in Korean^^

if they are going to integrate lan to battle.net , that prolly means that you'll have to connect to internet all the time to play .

Sometimes , some friends and I play on lan and we don't always go over the net , we just plug in on a switch/router and we play on lan no matter if only one of us is connected to the Inet , as we just can't always connect 4 or 6 pcs to the inet , we would lag too much.

So despite it might be a good thing , Lan included in directly in the game is still better

Oh and btw , Steam is ok now . The offline mode is ok .

We need more informations on this LAN thing

Battle net will be providing us with LAN capabilities ONLINE. So it could actually revolutionize the Starcraft online and offline scene. (maybe, the more i think about it the worse it gets)

The only thing that sucks for us is not being able to connect to the internet, which in turn would make it impossible for you to play with your friends that you may A) live with. or B) having a few matches among friends. ( which gets very exciting. )

Not everyone has the money to afford internet.

What about WCG?
Dreamhack?
Etc?

It won't be possible to meet other people at LANs. It indeed will horrible to not be able to attend WCG and play offline. I have never been to a WCG in my live, and I was looking forward to attending one for SC2...
Unless they decide to do a WCG offline, but online... It would cost a lot of money for a internet with the capability to service a crapload of computers at once.

I just really do not know what will happen with offline tournaments.
Anyone else have any idea?

I don't really see what the big problem with this thing is.

Blizzard has announced something VERY BOLD, so of course they MUST have a better alternative to something which is actually better than LAN.

Wait until you actually get the full details of BNET 2.0 and then you should start complaining and signing petitions.

dude, you have no clue about software development. the earlier you address your concerns the easier it is to adjust. waiting wont help, it will make it worse.

If someone have bad internet, BN2.0 dosent matter, only LAN could help in this sytuation.

No LAN option might get SC to outlive SC2 since ppl/tournaments without or with bad internet connection will be forced to use LAN supported games... This greedy attempt to reduce piracy is just sad and will ruin the experience for so many players...

#23 Strange. Weren't most of the games at Dreamhack this summer played at iccup/b.net? That requires internet. But yeah, I kinda agree, the lag issue could make some problems.

Though they said they are working on that, and that battle.net 2.0 would add something better instead. But I don't know what that could be. About time to announce some news on battle.net 2.0 I think.
