Gosu New Strat PvT vs Fe Terran (857 reads, 28 replies)
So basically pump goons from 2-3 gates and make a shuutle. By the time you get many goons + shuttle the fe terran will have few tanks. Now just transport the goons 2 by 2 onto the terran's main. It doesn't realy matter if u get seen cuz t is dead.

why don't pros use this kind strat i don't know cuz imo this would work wonders...

prolly because better terrans are going to have mines/sieged tank in good positions and turrets all over their base by the time you'll be albo to ferry the goons.buldog is far more better to break a fe terran and it's still hard to pull off

Dude I see a couple good protoss do this 3/4 of their pvt games, 1.5 years ago, no joke. It's not new at all.

Well..maby many of them use it..but there is nowhere directly anything about shuttle when terran does fe..and even if there is..its a luck to find it :)

Imo its just a lack of experience among starcraft generally..

HINT TO NEW PLAYERS: If you think you had invented something new, you are wrong. Only progamers can invent something that works vs theyre strats these days, or maby if lucky..top foreigns..just maby..but no noobs..sorry.

Because gosu players use it. But the often involve Reavers too as it is a waste to tech to shuttle and not tech to reavers.

And I've seen it being used mostly on Katrina. There was this one replay (posted here at GG.net) where the protoss just totally owned the Terran with reaver/ goon drops in main/exp (as they are the same).

Yea that was a great replay. :)
Too bad you need a huge amount of skill to pull that off.

Not only is this not new at all, it's seriously not recommended...

If you mean by transporting 2goons to terran's main, retreat shuttle, load up, put another 2goons there, etc. good luck trying that. Those 2goons will be dead before you even load in fresh new ones.

If you mean making mass shuttle, then wtf...GL with the economy to afford both goon army and shuttle fleet. But by the time you have 3 shuttles, tanks and vults are already moving out.

You transport all your goons to T's main, good job, but now what? Oh yes, vultures sneaks in to your main, kills all the probes you have. Meanwhile, the goons that got in gets blown to bits by mines in T's main.

Best way to counter Terran FE when being toss is goon rush to reaver tech or just plain outexpand.

Bullshit. The more you learn, the more limited your mind is. Knowledge makes you stick to a schemas, makes you think INSIDE the box. Watching tons of replays and playing tons of games will make you play good, but you'll stop on some level. Even noobs should try to invent their strats, maybe for 1 milion of them one will work. Not worth?

The other thing is, that inventing, testing and analysing strategies makes people understand the game. You won't get to understanding the game by watching and analysing replays, neither will you by playing copying pros. You also need to think.

Boxer was an egzample of somebody, who except training, was spending hours thinking, inventing his strategies, almost for each game. This is why we call him "Terran Emperor".

And Boxer was a progamer. An outstanding one indeed but had enough experience to pull that off. Youre saying now that beginners have more chances to come up with something new then progamers, due to their limited thinking of "inside the box" as in your statement above, and then your comparing this to Boxers influence in Starcraft gaming. It doesnt make any sense really.

There is a strong reason why beginners are told to imitate people above their level, because the stronger players simply has already been through what the beginner has, therefore adjusted the game to a higher level. The beginner can then "copy" this to increase their level of play faster then to go through the exact same thing and therefore loosing the same amount of time. We copy the better players because they simple know more then we do.

Quite often there are beginners claiming that they or someone they know have been coming up with a new good strategy, perhaps wondering why its not used in the progaming scene. The fact is that these strategies has already been found and already been tested and on higher levels they actually didnt work, therefore no need to have em anymore. The BO:s we follow today is todays best known opening for any race and for any type of play you want to play. By understanding them first you can then move on trying to think, and this time, outside the box.

15v i agree with you ^^ even new people should try to invet strat even if that didn't work for them, its like a way for them to learn more of the game, and besides thinking out of the box is a good idea, if many of us old time players didn't think out of the box, then the in the box right now would be what it is lol, most strats used recently were something like lol anyways you get what i mean

I didn't say "the better you play, the less you invent", that was never my point. I said that the more you LEARN. Boxer wasn't improving his skills by watching replays and writing on strategy forums (lawl, was there anyone who could teach him?).

I never said that we shouldn't follow better players. We just cannot follow them blindly.

Of course, some basic knowledge is a must, no doubt. But you know... The things you find out have bigger influence on your gameplay than things you're told.

Hey you know what he does watch a lot of replays.... He had like 20 floppy disks of replays... How many replays is that?
They also watch the replays of who they will play.

He did not go to strategy forums probably because he is so skilled but he probably sat down with the people in his group, to figure out what was teh best strat for the person he is playing next
