New Foreign Rising Stars (3484 reads, 90 replies)
I remember the time when it was all about Mondragon, Elky, Legendary, FishEye, Draco, BlackMan, Androide and Testie. They dominated the entire foreign scene and made everyone else seem like noobs trying their hardest to at least reach a similar level of expertise.

Suddenly new faces appeared showing that it wasn't only Europeans who rocked at this game. Standing up for the rest of Asia the Chinese Legend, F91 and the Taiwanese SEn reached the Top 10 in a blink of an eye.

It wasn't before Testie stole Mondragon's tittle of the best player outside Korea that SeN took the number 1 spot and completely owned and pwned that position defeating opponent after opponent making the world think that Asians did in fact have some sort of "natural" talent for this game.

Not so long ago, late as always, people from the Americas also showed that the world of Starcraft (WoS) didn't merely spin around the ancient continents. Players like Iejnaij, Idra, the hacker O.o, Creative, Reason, Odin, Darki, Stym and LastGosu reflected the image of a strong desire, the one of not only reaching their level but to prevail over European and Asian nations.

Today's starcraft foreign scene isn't dominated by people from the Americas but the new rising stars surely will accomplish that desire. These people are showing better and better results, they came out of nowhere and they remind me of what happened with the first generation of stars back in 2003-2004.

(Idra)
(IefNaij)
Nony
Chosen
Dinot
Castro
Fenix

Who do you think are the new starcraft rising stars who will dominate the future tournaments and rankings?

There will probably be a last generation of stars and then a smooth transition over SC2.

But boy, if Starcraft is dead and since Starcraft II doesn't even have a release date, then... what game are we all playing?

I don't think SC2 will be out for another year or so and in case it does, Oya (11 year old Swedish prodigy gamer) will dominate. Seriously I've never seen any one his age play at his level.

Yes Handy should be on the list of best players. He beat Dimaga in the last 2 encounters. Dimaga is a Monster Zerg who will be #1 Non Korean Zerg when Mondragon retires.

#1 , Sc2 is going to take a while to be popular probably 1-2 years after it's release. BW scene is still going to dominate ... think about it. Not everyone has the money or maybe the extra RAM for SC2. It's a bit more cost effective in everything. The transition process won't go by fast.

#15 most ppl ar very active in this period cuz wcg is coming after that most of the ppl will just quit playing cuz there is no sense in playing a game that will prob be dead soon. it's about the motivation, why play something that will be prob gone soon ?
