why after FE , protoss tech all the time (602 reads, 14 replies)
its a dumb question i think, i got that answer solved by myself i just want to know your opinion, to see what do you think. Recently i played against a guy in b.net, he was using z and I was using P, and i did a FE , and instead of teching to sair + dt or just sair, i did 3/4 more gates and start pumping zealots like crazy. he was assuming i was teching to sair( as well as zerg players do) so he did hydras , and no sunken and when i attacked him, i surprisively defeated him easilly, i start attacking him from my 5th zealot until he got killed, by the end of the game i had like 7 zealots and like 2 goons. So my question is, why do pro gamers dont do these sometimes, take advantage of the zerg assuming the P will tech, but instead pumping units and teching later, perhaps its because a few sunkens and thats it, but i want to know your opinion.

A good Z would just turtle and 3 hatch muta and beable to get VERY good harass with no storm or archon and buy enough time for a nice lurker/hyda/ling army to kill you

But vs lots of people you will win because you will surprise them and they dont know what to do =]

I usually use an overlord to scout what's in his base even if I have to sacrifice one..if I see that I would've added more sunkens and use larvas for some zerglings, hydras, and drones for mining.

It takes too much time to get sizable force to win the game with early units if you FE, also you cannot do a good attack in time before zerg has tech to counter early units. But many players will get speedlot +1 with many gas and take zerg offguard sometimes.

Protoss has advanced tech. Why should you waste it? :D
Using FE gives you better eco, so tech isn't that hard to reach...

of course if you are a good sc gamer you will scout what's on the enemies base. not just assume that they'll tech up upon FE XD

Easy. Scouting, scouting, and scouting. Most zergs mean low skilled zergs. If you lay with allot more skilled zerg player you`ll see it wont work just cause he`ll know what to do and how to scout. Anyways pro don`t do it just cause it`s riski and they can stay behind or even loose game.

so u added those gateways after ur goon killed his ovi? cuz if not did u proxy those gateways or how the fuck can a zerg not know whats going on so early in the game -.-

because he sent his starting overlord to a wrong location to scout and we were far from each other, (i didnt tech to goons until the end, at the beginning was just zealots), he sent lings to my base i had 2 cannons so they die, then he sent moore lings to see what at least what i was doing ( he couldnt enter my base thou due to the cannons and the FE blockade) and he saw just 1 zealot cause the other 3 i hide it from him and one was being made so that i can start attacking, and then when i decided to attack he saw me with his ovie nearly the in the center, but by the time he was making sunken it was too late, he had a hydras by that time like a zerg who respond to the sair tech but not enough to kill my zealots. he manage to survive a little more even thou his sunken were made late, but his economy was devastated, and then my reinforcements finished the job.

if u will play more with this tactic u will c... i think standart zerg's BO can overwhealming it without problem.... u will lose if zerg achieve tech and u dont
enough is (if he survive ur zealots) thing i hate most - simply crack, or just mutal like #1 said...
and only i can say, zerg definately scdrewed up, lost lings and bad scout... imho this both things was factors of zerg's death, definately u will not be able to do the same, if zerg prepare himself (couz scauted and know what to do) and have more lings (couse dont wasting)
definately u need tech to counter zerg's tech

Why not just skip the fe and start pumping zealots from 3gateways and lose to pure lings, if game gets long enough, you'll die in z tech units. lurk/mut and eventually, if you have turtled enough, to defiler+link+ultra.

well this strat was new to me i usually tech to sair + dt or reaver, but in these game i was like chilling out, and wanted to try new things and crazy strats ( like boxer) and somehow i was with the mentality that i was gonna loose because of this and surprisively i won, then i started to think about that.

if you want to pressure him with zeals after fe, go core after you get your gateway and gas up, then +1 asap, add 3-4 gates when you afford, and right away citadel to upgrade legs. Just watch out for 3hat hydra pushes and mutas and you can roam around the map to stop z expansions and force him to make fighting units/sunks instead of drones.

Keep upgrading and set up new expo+other forge and tech to templars+storms. Just in case you can make archon from your first 2hts if enemy doesn't have much hydras, might be going for later mutas, which can really annoy the shit out of your zealots..
