Viacom f**ks over scbw vod community (1234 reads, 39 replies)
This is an absolute outrage, I cannot believe this isn't considered murder: http://youtube.com/watch?v=KqlUtvvRjc0

As most of you probably know, Baezzi (or known by his youtube username 'Jon747') is the most well known and praised starcraft broodwar vod uploaders, dedicating pretty much his entire life to providing the community with great quality, and CLEAN (as in no idiotic english commentaries ruining a perfectly good vod, and please, don't start that shit with me about how some of you don't know Korean so you need the commentaries, just watch the damn match) proleauge/msl/osl vod's...

Just recently Viacom sued Google (google being current holder of youtube) for bs'd copywright infringement. Link for this news is in the description of the video I just wrote down. Now they are banning old time directors from uploading videos that are longer than 10 minutes, only a matter of time 'till they pull the typical corporate bull saying scbw vod rights belongs to them, and all current scbw vods that are longer than 10 minutes and have already been posted up being deleted on sight. I've heard and seen corporate cliche's, found them merely amusing at times, but wow, Viacom is the living proof that the term "power-hungry" exists. But a better word for Viacom in this situation will be "PIG".

This is absolutely unacceptable, to people in western countries that depend on people like Jon747 (Baezzi) and Violetak that provides us with fresh, not cut-up nor tampered with vod's...Having to watch ONE SINGLE proleague match in 30 different parts is bad in itself, but like I said, it's a matter of time 'till everything goes away. I myself, a Korean living in the US atm, can't get these stuff on TV like most Koreans do, so I depend on youtube for it. If that gets taken away, I can just kiss it goodbye for all I care, no doubt baezzi might quit, and no doubt Viacom is going to continue their killing spree.

Please for the love of God, people, do what you can to boycott Viacom owned brands, logos and channels. Tell your gf's and bratty sisters to stop watching MTV, in fact, that pitiful excuse of a channel shouldn't exist anyways. If you have kids, don't let them watch Nick JR (who gives a shit if they cry)...why should Viacom take away scbw vod rights when mexican prick Dora the Explorer is still up and running?

I'm not sure if this thread belongs here, all I know is that this involves scbw vods, and posting this on general forums will get me bashed by a bunch of metalheads.

omfg, yeah, I've heard about this bs earlier today-.-

it is like the dumbest thing they could ever do.. he should go to another website then, there are better ones which let u upload longer vids.

But hasn't there been like the possibility to upload bigger things? I've seen a whole movie on youtube once.

LML, yes, but only because old directors (people who had director accounts before youtube destroyed that perk) could still upload more than 10 minutes. But wtf, now even this has been destroyed. I can't believe this, I'll be sure to spit my steak out at those Viacom pigs tommorow at Independence Day bbq's...oh and those fireworks strapped with illegal high explosives are going to be aimed at you, corporate pigs.

No one's willing to pay for a completely new website, so that doesn't sound viable, but thank you for the suggestion. We can use other websites, but youtube's format and my youtube account was the backbone of it all...T.T It'll be hard to let go of all that, call me a nerd if you like.

I can't wait 'till US's entertainment industry crumbles, Viacom owning so much of them, will suffer greatly (unless, like a stuck, greased pig, tries to wriggle out of the muddy fence yet again). When that day comes, I will enjoy laughing at Viacom along with the thousands of others who suffers under that pig of a corporation.

What are you, the CIA? If so, then let me just point out I'm with #8 on this one, they need to be "terrorized" if you know what I mean. Oops, did I just let that slip? Feel free to deport me back to Korea, you'll actually make me happier.

I think if everyone on this site donated $1 a month, we could host a website and upload all VOD's on it, in HD and then we wouldn't have a problem.

I know a guy that could do it for us actually...I just don't care enough to pay for the entire thing myself.

It's because all the kiddies are watching youtube instead of MTV, what the point of reruns if poeple can just youtube it?

But yeah this sucks, it must be due to some technical issues, them not being able to sufficiently control and analyze uploads larger than 10 min

It's not just a SC VOD issue, it's about "big brother" corporate court rulings about privacy, abusing infringement & copyright laws to get free access to private DATA, IP, and viewing habits of all YT videos & users.

SO f you've ever watched a YT video, then they know of it now without you being able to control or allow it! Veoh has just legally undermined Privacy and is kicking your rights and shitting on all of your personal data to make money.

These are their child companies. Boycott them all: BET,BET J,MTV NETWORKS,ATOMFILMS,ADDICTINGGAMES,CMT,COMEDY CENTRAL,GAMETRAILERS,HARMONIX,LOGO,MTV,MTV2,MTVN INTERNATIONAL,MTVU,MTV TR3S,NEOPETS,NICKELODEON/NICK JR.,NICK AT NITE,NOGGIN,PARENTSCONNECT,QUIZILLA,RHAPSODY,SHOCK WAVE,SPIKE TV,THE N,TV LAND,VH1,VH1 CLASSIC,VH1 SOUL,VIRTUAL WORLDS,XFIRE
