[Q] Attack Units Under Lifted Building? (998 reads, 29 replies)
Hey, A couple of days ago I was playing 2vs2 with a friend of mine.
It was ZPvsTP. T went mech and didn't wall-in, so we decided to rush him with 8 lings and 3 lots.
Thing is, he put 2 marines behind 3 scvs, bloking choke point and he lifted a Barrack aand put above them.
Our units went crazy and couldn't attack.
I've heard once about (P)atrol instead of (A)ttack in these case. But we both tried and didn't work.
Does anybody knows about this? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure if you put your Zeals as close as possible to his SCV's and try Hold Position they should start attacking. But I don't think I've ever tried it either.

Can anyone confirm/deny that?

Theres no real counter to that I'm afraid. It's a really clever move since the AI will automatically attack the rines (hence they are firing at your units).

Getting your zealots/rines so close to the scvs that you're able to put hold on em is also very hard since the AI will mess up as soon as it realizes that it's something blocking the path. Patrol or Attack won't matter, as long as the scvs are still and aren't attacking, your units will want to attack the rines.

Thanks.
#3. You mean Stop, Cuz' Hold won't move. But it doesn't work.
So... it's pretty imba, right?
And I'm afraid the counter might be goons? Sucks...

#5 No, he means hold position cause stopping will make your zealots target the marines once again.
If you manage to move your zealots close enough to the scvs and press hold position, they _should_ attack the scvs but I havent tried that either..

You can always try drilling with workers I guess. Since one was Z an Ovvie should be able to see his minerals. :)

just place lings close to his choke or preferably on his ramp
then burrow then and stack the burrow and then unburrow and since the AI is fmeesed up they will move to the top behind the marines:P
but this is VERY hard to pull off
:D

but possible if he only has 2 marines:p-)

Worker drill, and he is fucked, because he obviously haven't got bunker if he has lifted his rax over his ramp :P Or just pressure the other one and tech to goons yourself and z can get lurkers/mutas and remember to sunken up vs tp, because vultures really fucks up your ramp defence with few zealots.
BTW I'm not sure, but is this (rax lift) forbidden in iccup? Because It is kinda abusing game mechanics.

only way to counter this is to place an overlord on top of terran's ramp, for some reason your units suddenly decide to attack scvs. tried it long time ago and still aint sure how exactly it works that way.

Maybe Drone Drill and Unburrow Stack are the answer.
But that's so not real, I mean, who goes fast burrow or get some drones with your lings?.
I'm talking the very first attack. You don't even have extractor/assi.
And you won't get drones there unless you know he'll doin' that.
BTW thanks.

well you scout out with a probe right? just keep movnig and when u see his rax lifting kepe th eprobe alive and rally zeals to his base

so when he is done with the ramp
drone with the probe and u can get in ;-)

I think you're right, that's the answer.
But he won't lift his barrack until killed your scout with 1-3 rines. So it would be difficult to expect that.
...So I guess the answer is just scoutin' and drillin'.

Should be able to keep a Drone/Probe alive at least until he has three Marines. And by then your attack should be on its way anyway.
