    WHen I asked that, it was concerning a post before me about scouting, I just didn't quote it.

    Its hard to people here give u an exactly answer for that, but yes it's possible the key is scouting all time like someone said bfore, and if the other guy goes for a fast dt BO > ur goons/ob BO

    You can harldy call anything in mirrored matches "safe". But yes, against dt rushes, staying in your base 'till first obs might be the safest thing to do. Another "safe" thing you can do against suspected dt rushes is while going robo, going forge+cannons near mineral lines as well (if you can afford it?) in case dt's comes before your first obs, and when your first obs comes out, you could safely move out with your goons and that obs without leaving your base and eco wide open for dt drop...

    What you arent seeing is that your opponent has many many many different options for his dt rush. Also your distance from him and wether or not the map has a ramp at your base makes a huge difference. With a 1 gate core Citadel it is very possible if the positions are close that he will kill your robo before you even put down a observatory.

    He could also proxy his gateways (and tech) and then have DTs in your base that much quicker. There are many things which factor into wether or not those DTs would arrive before your observer was up, most of the time DTs arrive before the obs but while its building. Though if you skip the second gate and goon range and head right for DTs they will be there really fast. A 2 gate robo probably would lose to this, though like I said it all depends on where you are, where he is, ramps, bridges, chokes all these things slow or speed a dt.

    @OP:
    Your build order would be a lot more clear if you indicated some supply numbers. Such as 8pylon, 10gate, 14zeal, 16pylon, 17core etc.

    And in regards to playing safe in case of Dark Templars:
    In most of my games I do something like 10gate, 14zeal, 16pylon, 17core, 18goon, 18range, 20gate. I then make Dragoons/Probes and make my Robotics Facility at 30-32 supply. Unless he has completely screwed his economy trying to get the earliest rush in than your Obs should be out by the time he attacks.

    You should have probe in his base long enough to see what he is doing. if he has only one gate and core+it isn't spinning or isn't making second one, he goes either dt or reaver usually. He might also have proxy tech+gate somewhere.

    But with your probe you should be seeing what you need and when to start robo or add another gate and crush him, or expo.


    Going 2gate zeal+goons should pressure dt-rushers enough to buy you time to tech and build probes. Sitting in your base and waiting his dts and your obs is as stupid as going exact "timing build" (at xx add another gate and then make robo after Y probes etc) in pvp, you will just lets him tech freely..

    And one gate goons might really suck vs 1gate zeal prod + 2gate dt+goon production. And then he gets you contained and can get his expo up (with cannons).

    its a safe build if you're smart enough to scout and notice your opponent is going all in if they are cutting probe production. If they are not going all in its a very safe build if you get a reaver.

    k)rookie, im b- high and ive used a robo/forge build many times in pvp, ive also seen koreans of all sorts do it aswell. Forge is also used for upgrades ?:D???? and like it was stated that cannon in mineral line giving you the freedom to leave your base and harass can end the game very quickly short after with out taking a huge risk, works like a charm.

    i really don't understand..what is the sense to make a forge (150 mn) + at least 1 cannon (159 min) when with that mineral 1 can make 2-3 goons? forge really set up u back..also because at the beginning of the game if u go forge u will have reaver a lot after your opponent that will simply crash ur pathetic cannon -.-
