I wont be buying it then.
I'm sorry, the whole, "Buy a game, and then pay to play it" thing is just plain BS IMO.
I bought WoW and used the free trial period, and should have sent the damn thing back to blizzard with request for refund.
I would play WoW if it was free to play, but there is no way I was going to pay $15 per month to play a game that wasn't really any better than a free to play competitor.
Blizzard sells all sorts of trinkets, CCGs, and books and things related to its franchises for those fans who like that sort of thing, you would think they would have more than enough income to support b.net.
$10-$15 per month starts to add up pretty quickly, and you can just as well buy another 2-3 all new video games per year for the amount of money you spend to play a game that you have ALREADY PURCHASED. |

I am not a fan of p2p system either, but, assuming there are about 10 million players who are willingly paying for World of Warcraft, and 10-20 millions more who are paying for the other games, Diablo III will get as many subscripbers as they want, without a few ppl from this thread buying it.
The gaming market as this moment is not what it used to be years ago. When Starcraft and Diablo 2 came out, it was teenagers, who spend nights and endless hours plaing them, basicly kids. Now, the average age of MMORRG player and/or a console owner in Europe and USA is around 30, that means it's ppl with families, jobs, who can afford to pay whatever it takes for their favorite game. And they usually only play only one or a few favorite games.
That's also the reason, of games becoming more and more "casual" over the past few years, as, i am sure of it, ppl over 30 don't want to come back from work, and spend hours, working their fingers to the bone, to get a 300 apm and so on.
If they make a good game, i'll for sure buy it and pay whatever subscription plan they will introduce by then. My biggest concern about D III at this very moment is, that it looks a little bit more cartoonish. I know, this way they can bring system requierments down, get a bigger appeal, lower Age restrictions, but still, a little bit disappointing. But i am not to judge a game that's been announced less than a week ago, and all we've seen as 10 minuts of pre-alpha stage gameplay. |
