I just hope that when they do release it someone will make a SC:BW mod. In fact, I'm sure that it would be the first thing the community will get to work on creating.

don't worry they already said that absolutely every unit in BW will be available in the map editor

#24 i'll wont be that sure about that being creep, it looks more like the stuff that those inferstors use.

but drop creep would be a nice skill though.

Nice, the graphics don't seem so overdozed anymore, I think I wouldn't mind seeing this in the final version. Now I'm more curious about high-tier zerg and a bit more protoss animations. In other screenshots and videos I thought protoss was still a little bit too flashy.
Good to see how the graphics evolve.

Holly s..t. I can hardly find any unit on this photo. I can't imagine playing this at fastest speed. I can't find buldings, units, nothing. It's terrible.

Look at StarCraft. It has a very simplistic design. Short and simple effects (yea I know they were top-tech 1998) easy to spot units. I mean... why do they think that making it 3D would be better. This is to suit all the nerds / small children that like cool effects and magic... Pfff We're talking about a Pro RTS here. If they just increased the standaerd resolution to 1024 / 768, used 32 bit sprite images and some new units and algorithms they'll have the next best game.

Have you seen those fan videos (like Iccup movie, WCG 2007 and etc.)? There are moments when the guy has shot 4 positions and merged them into a single huge screen. Now that would be great for micro. Better surrounds and vision of the army. We're walking about tactic after all. A few new short-cut keys to help fast select some specific units and balace it all out and you have the perfect game.

I had huge expectations of SC II but I'm starting to see that Blizzard haven't thought it through very much. Currently their game is designed for the basic public. There are no way near a good pro-tournament style game. And this is what made StarCraft so popular - it is like a sport, not just a sparcling game. I hope they simplify it!

man even if you write all of that ... you think you are the first one to express your concerns ? or you think that Blizz are gonna listen to you ...
anywayz I do agree on some things with you ... Like a friend said do another expansion for SC and that's it ... but what you gonna do ... we can criticize here and there we can rant and we can wait and hope it does turn out to be a good game with less hydralisk spikes on the hydras they look like sonic the hedgehog .... the oldschool hydra was so cool without having spikes all over it

actually you know what bothers me the most about Zerg ? They made them all too spikey ... they added these stupid spikes to ABSOLUTELY everything Hydra got alll spiked up Ultras too ... T_T since when are spikes good for something that wants to burrow/unburrow quickly ?!? they are tooo much taking the whole race in one direction with artwork

I guess I just needed to finally let that out.

Anyway I don't have a problem with spikes. It's natural that an organism that is likely to get attacked needs spikes for protection (like cacti).

The thing is that it needs to be cleare what's going on. Overall it's good work. It's never bad t follow a artwork and do it as close as possible. I just think that one can make something clearer and still so cool with fewer polygons using some tricks and thinking for a moment.

And yea, why not. If people stopped saying "COOL GRAPHICS, WWOOOO, I NEED MORE DETAIL WOOO" and started saying "I would love it to be with less effects but more precision and the most balanced and easy for use." Blizzard will make it that way.

See, the problem is in the public (the buyers). Since most people love cool effects and monsters and so on they buy WoW WC3 and so on cause they're 3D (so cool) and have flashy stuff in them. That's why blizzard are putting som much work on cool-looking graphics and are starting to put a side the fact that it should be competition-oriented.

Hm... sorry for long post! I always do that.

    Edit:
P.S. Four bulgarian posts in a row. GO BULGARIA!! :P

... no I don't think so ... yeah the spikes are a natural thing that developed in many organisms for protection but they aren't the ultimate solution - look at the turtle for example :P ... and when they put spikes on EVERYTHING and when they put TOO MUCH that's when it gets crappy ... and ofcourse one very important zerg trait is burrowing - have you seen anywhere anything that often burrows and is spiked all over ?! no cause spikes would make it more difficult ... and as far as I know hydras can't retract their spikes ... not until they evolve into lurker ...

and the Ultra ... they just don't need them ... what the ultra has evolved spikes on it's back ... why ?
let's look at a simple organism ... it evolves in different ways and develops something when it is forced to ... when it needs that thing for it's survival Hedgehogs have spikes for protection against foxes wolves and any other "melee" attacker :D
so why does it need spikes ??
what has forced it into developing spikes on its backplate ??

it's not melee attackers because the Ultra stands above any melee unit -----> it doesn't need protection on it's back ...
against air units or ranged attacks or whatever it already has the extra heavy armor ...

a logical thing would be for it to develop even further it's armor like it developed it's tusks ... you don't see spikes replacing it's tusks do you ?

    p.s. now five :D

Hm... nice logic. I liked what you had to say to prove your point.

There is one thing tho. The story of the zerg is that they are standard natural animals form different worlds being transformed into the ultimate fighting beasts. Yet you are still right about the ultra and about the hydra. I don't think it had many spikes in the original.

It would be a far longer topic if we started discussing the Terran mech and units.....but I think enough is enough

    P.S. now six
