#39, I can answer that.

Blizzard's RTS are really all about micro/macro.
Its going to be about the same, with some minor differences.
If you have a similar concept and understanding of the game as your opponent, then the only thing that matters is who can click the keys and mouse faster.

You cannot beat a top Starcraft or Warcraft 3 player at their game unless they just totally make a bonehead mistake, and they scout so well that they almost never do that. In open battlenet, most games are quite simply determined by your opponents BAD play, as opposed to your own good play. When you watch pro replays and vods you usually see the opposite. Whoever can elevate their game to a new level usually ends up winning.

They manage their time and resources so well that there is no waste. Money is spent exactly as it is gathered, buildings are used exactly as they are created, and units virtually never sit idle, even for a brief period of time.

They do not get that good by having played one or two hours per week, and certainly not by playing against computers or open battlenet. In many of their situations they played this game all day every day, every chance they got, week after week for several years. Additionally, like champion chess players, they have teams of friends and other expert players who constantly teach and critique one another and practice against one another, instead of practicing against the noobs on bnet.

I know I did, practiced all the time, too much really, and I'm still considered a below average player, even though I play to get better, I simply have never been able to get over the hump. Like any sport, there is a certain genetic element to this genre, as well as work ethic and training. If you do not have the fingers for hotkeys, and reflexes for it, you simply will never compete with above average players, they'll run circles around you every time and never break a sweat, and regardless of your actual strategic understanding of the game.

i am concerned about the angle of view. it looks pretty low above ground. mayb thats just because in the screenshots they zoomed in as in wc3 to show more details on 'em.

are the graphics in starcraft 2 with all the 3D and increased mapdetail making it harder to see whats going on. do view angle and hills or chokes in the 3Dmap have a negative impact upon the overview in battles, base building etc.. ?

Hello everyone . I have a question, but it isnt about SC2, its about SC1. First, i have a 1440x900 screen, so every time i play SC you can imagine how bad it looks . Isnt there a mod or a patch that can fix that problem? something that can allowme change the resolution of the game, just like StarEdit, that always fit to my screen? Theres got to be something, i dont think that im the only one who has this problem. I hope you can help out with this.

By the way, this forum is amazing! All the info i want of SC2 is here! This is better than the oficial forum and web site .

Thank you.

i would have to search quite hard to find a less fitting thread for your question. use your head to find a suitable place for your questions! no, there is no patch. starcraft runs at a fixed 640*480 resolution.

To Raistlin: Does one have to pay upfront for every unit he/she queues like in SC or is it like in WC3, where you only pay for the unit that's currently being trained?

Do the zerglings still have wings in the build you play?
- Yes.

Are we gonna see some copies from warcraft 3 with the ALT button to revele the units hp in combat, or still the same as the original starcraft?
- Yes, you are able to view the unit hit points in combat using the ALT button.

can you rotate the buildings ? ... like when you select where to build them, can you also decide which direction should the door of it be ?
- No.

What about infest ability did you try it out ?
- Yes, I tried it out and it feels a lot fresher than in StarCraft 1.

which buildings did you infest and which ones (if any) didn't work ?
- I only tried on the Terran Barracks.

also the new infested terran shoots like a marine and somewhere it was written that it is slow ... doesn't that cripple the swarming aggressive feel of the zerg ?
- A little bit. Although, it's pretty natural that a former Marine all Zerged up might be a bit slow.

dont the marines have bayonets? and if they do how did those function during game play? are they worth it? or is it safer to do the traditional hit and run style?
No, they did not have bayonettes. Although you can upgrade to give the Marines shields.

Do u think SC2 will be more nob friendly than orginal sc?
No, not really.

Starcraft 2 is now 3D. Did you feel any lag whatsoever? Do you think if this game was to play on a slow computer, do you think it will handle SC2?
- As I said before, they did not say anything about the system requirements, so I can't really answer to this. But I did not feel any lag at all on the computers we played on.

i noticed zerg starts with six drones is this for all races? or does only zerg start with 6 peons coz they need it for buildings? whats the maximum supply u begin with for the races?
- Each race start with the same amount of workers. I don't remember the supply amount in the beginning.

Does one have to pay upfront for every unit he/she queues like in SC or is it like in WC3, where you only pay for the unit that's currently being trained?
- No, you pay for each unit you build, however queing to build buildings only costs when it is currently being built.

if you would rate the game in 1 to 10- 1 having no feeling like sc1 at all, and 10 as if it is "3d expansion" :) what would you say? and elaborate it a bit please. thx
- It most definitely have the same feel as in StarCraft 1. 10/10.

2. How much did the early game change. (now that there are 6 workers )
Did not change that much, since you usually just wait for the workers to finish training in StarCraft 1 anyway.

Sorry guys, I won't answer all of your questions, some for obvious reasons and some because they are too hard to answer.

Raistlin, I just wanted to ask... when you played Zerg, did the lack of detection ability of the Overlord feel it could cause problems for your early game (yes, I am thinking of fast Dark Templar Attacks) or was there a reason for you to feel "safe" from being attacked by early stealth (eg. Protoss Tech Tree doesn't allow quick DT build, or there is some ability that helps you detect)?

I tended to forget to get detection, for all races except for Protoss. But you can easily tech up to Overseer before the Protoss attacks with Dark Tempalrs.

- No, I don't know.

did you get raped by any progamers?
- No, no progamers were present at the game session. I got defeated in a 2on2 tournament with a guy from IncGamers.com. We ended third place, while TeamLiquid with LastRomantic and semiold guy ended up in first place. Second place went to SC2Forums and GameReplays, if I remember correct.

The Corruptor is a great anti-air unit, but I'm not sure how buffed the unit was in the zerg movie. They are strong, and in many numbers they can of course take out battlecruisers and vikings.
