I want to know more about SCII editor, how powerfull will it be?
Same here. Specific questions about the editor I'm interested in because I plan to make some great UMS maps.
Will it be able to:
- change the default amount of minerals mined by the workers from each patch of minerals and each gas geyser? For example, making blue minerals yield 5 per worker trip and yellows yield 25, or something like that instead of the default 8/12
- change the default refinery/extractor/assimilator setting where it shuts down after a certain amount of gas is taken? Because this mechanic would be pointless in the UMS map realm
- change the minimum distance that Nexus/CC/Hatch must be placed from minerals/geysers?
- change the number of workers able to mine from any single mineral patch or geyser? Similar to how gold was mined in the original warcraft games - unlimited # of peasants could go in and out of a single gold mine and/or hack at a single tree and just deplete it faster
- change the required tech buildings for unit production. Example in SC1 terms: Can I make a map where terran players can build firebats without first constructing an academy
- change the size of the map (and retain all the work that's already been done) after I've edited it on a smaller one and realized it wasn't big enough for my liking? "expanding the canvas" so to speak, in photoshop terms
- expand unit hit points beyond 9999 and armor beyond 255?
- change armor types for protoss shields? I've heard that the shields will take on the same armor type as the unit's normal hp, but I'd like to know if the option is available to make it the same way as original SC where the shields take full damage from everything, but the unit's hp is armor-type specific
- change the movement speed and attack rate of units?
Also a question regarding animation limitations of SC2. In UMS games in the original SC, when HUGE numbers of units with many animations were in game, dragoons/scouts/wraiths/etc. fired, but their missiles/projectiles were not animated and therefore didn't land on their targets. Will SC2 limit the number of sprites displayed on screen as well? If so, how large can armies become before this will occur?
AND FINALLY:
Will there be a siege tank in the next battle report? Because if there isn't, I'm not buying SC2. That is all. |
