so here is my alt tab commentary as I watch the game.

ok first of all, 3 drones on gas is good, not 4.

Why did you send a drone early to his base and keep it there once you had zerglings. Also, that many zerglings on this map early are not very helpful unless you are being rushed, drone up so you have an eco advantage or go all in attack.

Also at one point early you had like 4-500 minerals saved up, make that third hatch earlier. SC isn't a bank, you don't get interest on your funds! Spend it!

If you have lurkers morphing save your lings so you can use them in tandem with the lurks. Lurkling > ling...and then in 30 seconds just lurk.

Once you get those lurkers it is also a good time to expand. Never be satisfied with the same number of bases as terran. And with those lurkers you can protect a lot of the bases here.

When attacking you had soooo much money saved up, make more hatches at least. Also in the attack when you break through put two lurkers near his expo minerals and hurt his eco as much as possible.

Addendum, please upgrade. Please please upgrade.

At some point you should make a spire so you can scourge the science vessels. With all the money you had saved you could have been teching to hive and defiler mound for dark swarm.

Protect your expansions!!!! If you are not going to scout the map at all (another good idea! :) ) you should at least put a few lurkers near bases you need to come in. If you are going to be going mass lurkers, you need to get those gas expansions.

Ok now at 15m mark you still have no spire, so vessels can just irradiate you to hell, and no higher tech. You are stuck on tier two except with no upgrades!

Well my comp crashed while i was at the point where your attack on his second expo failed...but at that point you'd already lost so I am not gonna re-watch.

Basic tips: get a better sense of map control. Know when you can expand etc. Also you need to move on to late game. You went lurkers....but that was all you did.

Hope some of this helped.

He is correct though, you should watch some more reps of general zvt on larger maps like that.

Glad I could help.

#6, watching games isn't about remembering everything, it's about watching and observing. There's a reason why the third person in a match is the "observer" and not the "looker". When you are observing, you are thinking as well: what is the importance of those first lings, what else could they have been used for? at X:XX time, the pro had x lurks and y lings; what did I have? turn off vision, and see: ah, this is what the pro saw, and in turn, responded with (blank) ...

so, I think that's what legendary meant.

from what I can see, you forgott your spire, you need more drones, you need to practice lurker and ling useage :P, you need upgrades, you need harrass (go muta, lurk drop whateveah) you gotta harrass them terrans, and yeah watch replays with gosu zergs, that will help you understand when zerg offense is usefull, and when you simply wait for your opponent to walk in the trap, also it might give you some nice teching, bo, and unit combination tips.

hope that helps :P

Download a replay, watch it. Maybe ask someone if it's a good replay for the this purpose. If it is, then do this:

Analyse the build order and write it down. Write the supply, the time and and the drone count when every building should be build.

Memorise the scouting patterns used.

Where are the army placed when it's idle? Is any harrass used? How?

Write down when expansions are taken. At which supply count? At which drone count? Who have the map control? Where are the expansion build?

What type of units are used? Try to understand why those units were used. Would it have been better to use other units?

When are static defense used? When are mobile defense used?

When are hive upgraded? When are attack and carapace upgrades upgraded?

The more questions you ask the better. You don't need to be able to answer all but of course it's better if you can answer it tha nif you can not.

Once you're done with that part you should try to play EXACTLY like the guy in the replay.
Then start asking questions again. What did you do good? What need improvements? Did my opponent play different from the opponent in the replay? Was the map different from the one in the replay? Did it have any effect on the outcome of the game? What in the build could have been changed to better fir the current situation?

Then apply your new answers to your next games and analyse them too. Whenever there's a question you cannot answer, make a topic about it.

He don't want normal, he wants awesome.
Even the best do mistakes, though progamers do really few. The less mistakes he's picking up from his replay watching habits the better. It doesn't matter that much that progamer builds are slightly harder to execute than the top forgeiners builds, what you practice you'll learn. Just don't expect to learn it too fast. Building up a good multitask takes time, lots of time.

You see small mistakes in almost all replays. People adding their third hatch on 15 instead of 13 when massing drones, people sending their scouting ol the lesser way, people maynarding too many drones, people getting their hatches too late, people making ols too late etc... The less one picks up the better.

He had 4 drones or lost 4 drones? Or were there 4 idle drones?

If yes on the first, did he have more drones earlier?
