Terrans I need help! (923 reads, 23 replies)
Terrans, I need your help! I have noticed that I slowly have been victim of the unconscious, yet prominent Zerg infestation. My love for the Terran has been fogged to the extent that I don’t play it anymore, or at least as much as I once used to. And now I find myself day after day playing for the Overmind (I don’t blame Keggigan anymore T__T) All of it started the day when sAviOr’s replay pack was released and JulyZerg’s success made known.

As I was peeking through sAviOr’s replay pack, the one that was released not too long ago, I watched some of the great strategies and tricks he can pull off with relative ease and effectiveness with his mighty legion of Zerg. I noticed how well he can make use of the Dark Swarm along with hordes of Cracklings, Lurkers, and Ultralisks; how well he can gain an advantage with a group of seven Mutalisks, and how capably he is of constantly producing and upgrading his units supported by a large amount of expansions, which seems too impressive to for me since it is very hard do with such a cash inflow he is constantly getting. He truly is one of the most successful agents of the Overmind and that is a sure thing. I hope he stays 1st in this league.

Not only had I taken the pleasure to watch such of his keen replays, but I as well watched a couple from JulyZerg and YellOw. All of them are amazing players; the intensive micro and macro required to be successful with Zerg, surpasses that of Terrans and Protoss (IMO) due to the swiftness of their development. Yet, those Gosus still manage to effectively use them.

So I went off and tried a couple games with Zerg but with little or no success. It is indeed very different from my Terran and it is a sure thing that it will take me a long time to be as good with Zerg as I am with it.

I really don’t know what to do. I’ve always been playing with the Terran and the reputation I’ve formed throughout the months along with my cyber café friends, was that of a Terran Commander (everyone there plays Protoss ¬¬) even my best friend plays Protoss and he truly fears my Tank Pushes and Vulture micro. I really don’t want to wander off the Terran to become a Cerebrate, yet it is very, very appealing to me. So I need anything you can say that will help me stay on road, and keep my job of a Terran Commander.

My Regards,

EsX_Raptor

ok. first of all u should stop writing like you are a fictional character... second, this is not a big life decision so get over it. if ur friends can't get past u playing as a 'cerebrate!' o_O then they are nerdy beyond salvation + u should kick their asses as zerg ^^

play what u feel like playin' but know this that by knowing zergs gameplay u will probably only get better in tvz cuz u will understand zerg mechanics better.

Now off u go into a brighter future and pls do not be worried about this little yet perfect game. just play it for FUN! Get it?!

I like writing in a ficticeous manner... or at least I started doing so a while back, with the purpose of broadening (<-that spelled rite?) my English-writing mindsets and as well to study public reaction. =]

Zerg Macro -__- how complex it is indeed...

Zerg vs Terran Basics
With this explained, I'd like to know some Zerg vs Terran basics in order to at least start somewhere...
I know that in TvZ, I usually go racks, m&m siege support and vessels... as many other gosus do. And I wonder, if there is a specific way to counter this with Zerg. I've seen replays in which pro Zergs go Lurkers, Zerglings and Defilers... that's it.

Let me hear a word from the Zerg players here.

Jeez, I've been trying to play Zerg as well, but for a different reason (because I'm considering going Random).

It's the hardest thing ever, but what I've learned is: Do NOT try to imitate what the programmer Zergs do. Yet, at least. It's not like Protoss or Terran where you can semi-emulate what you see in replays. Try playing a more campy macro Zerg for a while until you gradually get the hang of the Zerg micro. But trying to get all programmer will only be frustrating and you'll end up not liking the race.

I'm not saying don't micro at all, just take it easy a bit.

Chit... comments #15 and #16 are just driving me on the edge of the line between the Zerg and the Terran... x__X

#15: I really loved the Terran... I mean, their m&m, tank, vessel combo really pwns the Zerg to some extent... but when Defilers are around, those fools are just history and FORCED to back away from the emerging swarm... plus, the Plague can turn that enormous Terran army into a group of ants in the hands of insecticide. >XD

#16: Yes, it is true... seeing those helpless critters die in a few hits from Lurkers is indeed brilliant... yet the arachnids can be easily pwned by back-up Siege Tanks waiting in the shadows behind the Lurkers' prey. And if that is not enough, Science Vessels irradiate the Lurkers rendering them obsolete no matter what the helpless Zerg do.

I was a former Z player (A really bad one) and litle over one year ago after stumbeling upon Boxer's vod's on utube I discovered pro gameing wich I never really knew anything about.

Maybe it was first impressions that I fell under the infulence(as many others) of boxer's unique playstyle and then of course started playing T...alot.
If I had watched Savior or Bisu first then maybe I'd play those races but <3

The Truth is I was a heck of alot better T then Z for one I have never been taught sc by anyone never bothered studying pros reps or reading Bo's and strats, it's all...what does this button do? click here? this unit does what?xD

Over The Last year I've definetly improved and espescialy of late where I've started playin 1v1 alot more (80+ games lol) I never understood how to play a mu all I knew was the opening bo vs T/P go tech vs Z go Rines.

Other than that I learned thru playing and have improved thru experience.
I've played sc all my life yet never had Internett untill 2 years ago and only played 500+ games in total counting some 2,5k+ ums.

I Don't consider myself a noob and none of the people I've played with friends/jerks have pointed out my play is total crap other than flameing.

I Have lots to learn and yet have been extremely tempted to play Toss since the majority of people play it and after all they are the strongest race if played right desbite what u fanatics might say

SOOO after babling about myself there is always that feeling that one of the other 2 races are better espescialy after u get owned again and again in that mu at least for us mortals.

U wanna play Z? u got influenced by Z korean gosu's? well then I know how u feel (look above lol -.-) u should not forget that even thou sc is balanced and the only imba might be certain mu's on certain maps.

Yet it's not the game that decides what owns and what's best etc? It's the players! and therfore race dosen't matter u pick what fits ur playstyle and what ur good at.

Boxer is old school and is a main reason there has been a swarm of "Buxer" wannabes and worshippers I hardly believe T would have been as popular without him? ;)

GO play z u infidel! gl hf gg

PS: Extremely Sorry for all the spam and opinions-no-one-cares-about

Playing on b.net Zerg is not as easy as u see savior and july, u can't micro ur mutas like that even if u got that skill, b.net lag will kill all ur mutas, and then the terran will role over u.
