LML, I was just kidding ^^

the amount of time required to rest before working out again depends on how much muscle you damaged (that's what training does.. damage, so the body thinks "hey, that part got damaged. let's make it stronger for next time!"), how much you sleep during that time, how much you slept before, your diet etc. So it depends...

And about Bruce Lee... was he evern in to body building and training specific muscle groups? As far as I know about MA training that trains the whole body and does not put heavy focus on a single muscle group, meaning that less strain is put there, less damage, and thus less time for rest required.

#23 well, still its 48 hours minimum. Of course it can be longer if you sleep like a .. well stupid person :p

And yeah, as you said, i dont think lee trained the way we are talking about here.

If brains got damaged a lot, you need to eat well and rest a while... keep brake etc. then its all good again, with brains ofc its a muscle that we practice all the time. Just bring out your opinions ofc, this one interesting thread :)

Edit: brain is no doubt different than body, its the hardest to train. For some people its easy ofc.

#10, that was later in his career after his 5 consecutive wins, and some people dont even respond to overtraining. And yes I do physical training, I mostly do low rep exercises with some isometrics on the side.

mm when you work out, you destroy ur muscle fibers, and it takes like a day for it to regrow back again stronger than before.. if u dont rest than u keep ripping your muscle fibers apart and can theoretically make you weaker...

By the way, for all you people who think that doing the same workout or exercising the same muscle group 2 days in a row or anything above that is bad.
During Arnies early career and even up to a few years ago he woke up EVERY MORNING and did lying side flys because he had a rear fly problem and he did it in a certain way which strained the rear flys so he wouldent have them underdeveloped in comparison to his side and front delts.

Bam, Arnie wins me another round.

he had a rear fly problem

strained the rear flys

wow #30... don't tell me you think there's a muscle called a "fly"
and theres no such lift called a side fly...
And the main purpose for flyes is for the pectorals so if arnold was trying to balance out his deltoids he would've done things such as military press, upright rows, or raises. Pleas stop using arnold as your reference because your embarassing him and yourself. If your going to try to explain such things please make sure you know what the different muscle groups are first.

sry im drunk, i meant rear delt quite obviosuly.
And your a retard if you think theres no such thing as a lying side fly -.-
So you think that flys are all for pecs?

Thats flat flys and sitting flys retard(machine of course)
Wtf do you think side flys, standing flys, and rear flys are for?

Nice, the old "i'm drunk" excuse. Seriously just admit you have no idea what the hell you are talking about. Yes, I must be a retard because there is no such thing as a lying side fly and if there is PLEASE prove me wrong with real proof. Where in my post did i say flyes are all for pecs? I said the main purpose for flyes is the pecs and for more definition in deltoids there are more effective and crucial lifts for it. By you saying there's standing and side flyes I'm pretty sure you're confused with raises in which case still proves you don't know anything because that proves you don't even know the names of the different lifts either. Honestly stop arguing with me because I've actually worked as a physical trainer and you sir are full of bogus information.

some seriously question we know it all from bodybuilding ( well most people) and every muscle should have atleast 2 days rest per workout .
So i was thinking the question if it wouldnt be better to take a day rest of bw and come back after then ?
Why i ask that ? Well , the brain is a muscle too. ...

Well, first the brain isnt a muscle its just a difficult big ball of nerves...
IMO, it woulde be better to take a rest one day of bw, cause I think u have, after oneday rest, much bigger taste to play bw.
4 all:try to use fully ur brain and rest in free time and in sleep, it is IMO better to think all the time than ur brain can get "lazy"

I was drunk actually, but thats beside the point. Im guessing you and I are using different names, but go read one of Arnies books and hel tell you that he woke up every single fuckin morning and did lying side flys.
And ive worked as a trainer too, that doesent make me a genius in this subject, nor does it make you a genius.

I think that a 5-10 minute break every hour of playing is a good idea. It lets your eyes rest and gives you a chance to clear your mind. I like listening to really slow music, orchestral stuff when I'm taking a break. It slows my mind down and enables me to concentrate harder when I go back to playing.

When lifting weights, it is good to put 48 hours between sets of sets.

Bruce Lee DID do some weight lifting, but it was more of a total-body type exercise, stuff like pull-ups, squats, and that sort. He focused primarily on cardio work, stuff for his heart and lungs.

BTW, if you want to be healthy, you don't need to focus a lot of time on weight lifting. I wouldn't even recommend it unless you play sports. Just running or biking for 30 minutes a few times times a week, along with a healthy diet is enough to keep the average person healthy and happy.

hmmm, if we're talking about a brain "tune-up" I try to take 3 days off every month, and 1 week off every 7 months.

This seems to re-invigorate my senses, and fuel my desire to play again.

Also, since I play so much, I don't know how to do anything else ^^ so I go back and watch some replays and think about them some more. When I come back, my play seems to improve much.

At school we learned, that when you do physical exercises, your nerves get tired but not muscles. After hard training you feel pain in your members; sometimes can hardly move your arms/legs . That's because of nerves.. They are tired and can't send signal properly.
Cause brain is a bunch of nerve cells it also needs rest. When you do much mental work, you lose attention, think more slowly and have headache.

Breaks are bad. Play until you're fried, go to sleep, do the same thing in the morning/when you wake up.
