First Starcraft II Tournament (829 reads, 10 replies)
I will be hosting an on-line tournament exactly (to the minute) one week after Starcraft II worldwide release. If release times are different across the world, then exactly one week after USA release.

Entry fee: 5 USD (3.67 Euro, 5.83 AUD, 4,599 Won, 33.75 SEK)

Prize: Based on prize pool.

I will seed the prize pool with 50 USD. Then, ALL entry fees will be put into the prize pool. If anyone or any clan or any organization would like to submit additional items/money for the prize pool, you may, and you will be acknowledged (example: Nimue, in cooperation with Lord of Chaos and team xLo, or whatever/whoever the donors may be, presents ... blah blah blah).

At the moment, I am thinking the prize breakdown will be as follows, although this is subject to change:
60% of prize pool goes to 1st place winner
20% of prize pool goes to 2nd place winner
10% of prize pool goes to 3rd place winner
10% of prize pool goes to TD (Tournament Director)

So, basically, if ...
there's 80 people entered, and suppose Steelseries donates a mouse, and LoC donates 25$, or whatever,
the prize pool will be 50 + 80*5 + 25. the mouse will go to the 1st place.
1st place will get 285 USD + mouse
2nd place will get 95 USD
3rd place will get 48 USD
TD will get 47 USD
yeah, you guys aren't dumb, you can figure out what I mean.

Style:
Double Elimination
Bo1 for all rounds up to quarter-finals
Bo3 for quarter and semi
Bo5 for finals

Map Pool:
SC2 version of LT
TBA. Ideally, I would like to have SC2 versions of promaps at the time, but that does not show off the new terrain and multi-levels and cliff jumping for Reapers and stuff like that, so we might actually have to go with Blizzard maps . If anyone has good ideas, or would like to make maps, be my guest.

Maphack:
ummmm, can anyone write a maphack program 1 week into the game? ... if you do, then you can ** ** ** and you're out of the tournament. no refund

Payment:
I'm technologically challenged, so I can't promise Paypal. I think I'll ask my friend to help me with that. Otherwise, a check, travelor's check, or cash mailed to my residence, RECEIVED BY THE RELEASE DATE OF SC2, will suffice.

In return, I'll pay by check, travelor's check, or cash mailed out. If I learn how to use paypal, maybe I'll use that.

Caveat:
I reserve the right to cancel the tournament at my discretion. In the event that the tournament is canceled, I'll return the entry fees with postage (I'll return 5.84 USD if you paid 5 USD). Obviously, I won't lightly do this, but if there's like a total of 6 people who sign up, then I'm not shelling out 50 bucks just so one of them might win it.

TD:
I don't want to be TD. I wanna play! ^^
If you wanna be TD, email me or something. You will be compensated with 10% of the prize pool.
Must have good knowledge on how to create brackets and battlereports.com stuff ... or however you do it.

Opinions/Suggestions:
Post Under Here

Sign-up:
email me at:

with the Subject Line:
SUGGESTION for SC2 Tournament
OR
SIGN-UP for SC2 Tournament

Once I get your email, I'll add you to my list so I can post here how many people are interested. When SC2 release is announced, I'll start badgering you all for money.

Publicity:
the more people that join, the bigger the prize fund is, so it is best that we get like 3000 people in this tournament. anyone want to post this on tl.net or any other site, or if anyone is a good translator, repost on a korean site would be appreciated. remember: more people = better.

Like I said before, this could be a great publicity stunt for clans. Furthermore, if your clans' sponsors want in on this, this is a great way to do it.

Security:
Ummm, there is no guarentee except my word that I will pay up after the tournament finishes. However, in order to mail me money or a check, I have to give you my address, ... ...
In other words, I don't want 50 mail-bombs the week after the tournament.

Trust me. I will pay up.

Final word:
I hope this turns out to be a great success. I hope it is fun. I mean, one week after release, there's gonna be a shitload of weird-ass strats ^^ and we'll see them all :)

If you have enough money to get a good enough computer to play sc2, and enough money to purchase the game, I'm thinking 5 USD isn't too much for you. Basically, it's a chance to make some money playing starcraft 2, and have some fun in the process.

Have fun, gg. ㅈㅈ.
