Star Craft II some questions (1111 reads, 17 replies)
I have a few questions for you guys to answer. I think that the main sc2 problems will be connected to the balance of the game. Blizz says they didnt add a 4th race because It would be hard to balance but don't you think that adding so many new units and deleting old units will lead to disbalance ? it's hardly the same game again with over 50% of the units replaced.
2) Maps: Okay we have to consider the yellow minerals we saw on the gameplay video. As a whole the idea of 2 kinds of minerals is great but also means that MOST of the old maps will be imba and have to be edited.
Do you think that range units in starcraft should miss like w3 units ? I think NOT. Would be great if range units missed only when your opponent is microing, otherwise ranged sc2 units should have 0% miss chance.
what about new abilities? The Immortals have a shield which activates versus heavy wearpons, but once activated does it protect them against light wearpons. We see in the gameplay vid that the player waits for the shield to deactivate and then sends the reapers. Will the reapers deal the same dmg if the shield is active?
There are many other questions bliz has to answer. If u have noticed anythin else fell free to comment :D:D

ranged units will probably miss just like in sc/bw when they are in lower terrain level, or maybe miss more...as you can see in the screenshots from blizzard where the colossus are on those temple templates, they are way up high ...marines don't stand a chance .alos i hate those soul hunters, i mean...come on ...eating souls to get more powerful ? that's not starcrafty at all (but that's just me)

Yeah I was wondering the same thing about Immortals. They shields are activeted when they are hit by a very powerful weapon. But how many units can inflict that much dmg as the Sieged tanks do ? And how do their shields would react on a Warp Ray attack ,since the longer it shoots the bigger the dmg and it shouldn't active the shields in the beginning but later ?

good question. we'll have to see. But that would really add to gameplay micro wise. So either way that is a good thing.

Its hard to judge until we see ppl playing the game (for the other questions). Theres no way we could answer all these in an accurate way - we just dont know. I think at this point we shouldn't ask questions. Just patiently wait. The only thing we can do is talk about what we got thus far (videos, the website, and Q/A's). And your questions have not been touched upon much by blizzard if at all.

;o it looks like it maybe per hit defense... or else u'd use reavers to activate them in order to save urself from reapers < nvm that's sexy micro.
i think wraprays forces the enemy to expo more ;p or else u can just guard one and let it kill the command center.
i think there should be a limit for soulhunter's power... or it should have very small growth rate.
btw can soul hunters feed on critters?

i am quite sure i read somewhere that soul hunters shoot with 1-3 "lasers" at one time, so it seems that theres a limit coming quite fast (maybe 1soul = 1 more laser t.t)
we'll see how powerfull they get with each new laser... maybe they have basic dmg of 5 and getting +5 for each laser...would be ok, no?

The immortal sheild is a PASSIVE ability ( i.e. always there) it activates against strong attacks only....
like tanks have explosive dmg so it will always activate againts them, but reapers have normal attack so it will NEVER activate no matter how many there are attacking.

the gp video explained that.....

The soul hunter laser will need micro to utilize there ability. HOW?
By microing to get all your hunters to 3 laser upgrade by letting each one kill 3 marines or 3 scvs, etc....

Again that was wat was explained to us in the PC mag.

speculation is not nessecary.

let em make the fucking game, they kinda know what they are doing
too much whine for a game thats not even started beta yet
sc2 wont be sc, one can assume blizzard is doing all their standard stuff, there wont be an i win unit
Mostlikely beta will have some balance issues but its all a process, i personally have a hard time getting past all the whiners when the game isnt even out yet.
Only Demo's so fare, relax and be rdy for an epic game! :D

I honestly was shocked when I saw that Blizzard is even considering a unit such as the "soul hunter". I was impressed with the Gameplay video in general but the latest unit info out is disturbing
