u know what micro and macro is the most basic element in any strategy game especially in BW and WC3 cuz if you click and move just 1 unit to another place its already called a "micro" if you click 3 or more units and move them simultaneously to another place its already called "macro" and you say there's no micro in WC3?

Macro is building units, expanding base, not moving 3 units.
Moving units = micro, and w3 is micro based game, but there is totaly no macro in w3.

rofl @ #24 being wrong as fuck...

macro is production, has nothing to do with moving a group of units
and micro is not attack moving.. or right clicking... its using your units potential to survive longer and make the best outcome in battle

the term you are looking for is "maneuvering" -.-;;

The thing that irritates me most is that when ppl says theres no macro in wc3/tft, theres only micro and in BW theres macro and micro. And by that some fucking idiots makes the next statements about micro "when it comes to micro: -> WC3>>>>>>>>>>>>>BW in micro skills". All those could come to suck my balls, but you are too low to do it. Just some day you guys should come in BW and try to micro decently m&m vs lurker/ling or smth and see what the real micro is (while macroing the same time).

ok now ill tell you something

micro is more important in wc3 than it is in sc, because in sc you need to be good at both macro and micro equally, while in wc3 you spend most of your time microing while macro really doesnt take much clicks.
that however doesnt mean that micro in sc is easier to do or less important for the game. it is just as hard and you need at least the same amount of skill to master it as in wc3, the thing that makes up the difference is that you still have to take some of the time for macroing "in between". yes, micro eats up about 80%? of wc3s game, while sc macro and micro need to be used equally, but it is in no way less needed in sc to micro perfectly.

i hope at least 1-2guys get to understand what im trying to say

that is btw the exact reason for lots of bw players saying that wc3 is really easy (in comparison). while also micro is easier to do there bcause the game uses a much lower pace

W3 ->
You got 100 limit and you control 10-20 units (not sure) ,hell it's obvious you micro them ....With the lack a high macro skill all you can do is micro your dozen units.
SC ->
200 limit ,and you got up to 4-5 dozens in late game ,also you have to macro too.

When compared ,well it's way more easy to control 15 units with 300+ life and yes it's micro. But try micro 50 units that die like flies and in the end no matter how much micro you have you can't be that efficient as in WC3. It's simple more units + less HP harder to control.

And about those bears ....well imagine M&M vs Lurks ...with a Lurker being able to kill marine in 2 hits (or more than just one Marine) way harder to save all your troop ,eventually some will die (if not most). But does your task is easier than the bears thing ...hell not.

#31 and #32 has it down right about macro / micro in wc3 vs sc/bw

however, y'all have forgotten to stay on topic... this is a sc2 forum!

do state your speculations / hopes about how the dynamics of sc2 may compare to tat of sc/bw and / or wc3 ... with concerns to concepts macro / micro

personally, i can partially sign on one of the great things about sc is the equal focus on macro & micro in terms of importance... becasue this is true, especially if comparing to warcraft 3 .. however, i say partially, because some micro aspects are just too hard to be worthwhile - regardless of "skill" - some unis and abilities see very little use becasue of this. its largely due to interface limitations...

so i hope & think that sc2 will try to achive that great balance of macro and micro once again... with help of modernized interface and overall improved game dynamics.

Well we all hope (didn't write it) that sc2 would not be like wc3.

i just HOPE for gods sake
that sc2 will keep the speed of sc, no clumsy, slow units like w3, no comic graphics, not 763895739875 abilities for the units... no mass selecting of buildings for 1click macro

after what ive seen of sc2 so far it looks hell of a lot closer to wc3 than im able to bear with. but its too early to make any judgements, so we'll have to wait until they release it.

As some people said earlier the micro/macro percentages are different in games but bw micro is far more advanced them wc i can not stress that enough . A wc pro after 1st day of sc is on the same lvl of some noobs of 3 days of playing im not kidding.
