3D units.. sexy, odd, ugly (3078 reads, 41 replies)
ok.. we all know that its 3rd now. while watching the clips, the demo and some in-game pictures.. i realized that the siege tanks canon in siege mode is like a pair of kissing lips! now, when i notice this, i looked for more other stuff.. and this is what i get.

like i said the cannons of the sieged siege tanks are like lips. take a look at the 12 and 1 position of this picture

and the cannons are rather aiming way high in the sky. it feels like they can also attack air

the immortal are like those things(dont know the names) in starwars. they may have get the idea from it.. that we don't know..
also, did you notice something dancing in the 1st demo of SC2. 3:14 is the time, when they where featuring the detailed graphics of the immortals, we can see some image of a female dancing, a hooker maybe? XD jk!

the zerglings are totally renewed. its like.. those bugs in starship troopers. i liked the "doogy" kind of lings more. and when they morph into banelings, they create an egg similar to wc3 spider eggs. wc3 engine? that we don't know.

does soul hunter looks like he is hovering in some kind of skate board? well some say that they replaced the reavers. i think the reavers in 3rd will be great.. imagine, we can finally see what does the scarab looks like.

hmm.. well i don't think everyone will agree with me with all of these but these are what i noticed..

oh and lastly, the gameplay is very much similar to wc3, which i really don't like. well i hope i will still feel the SC1 in it. and also, it would be good if the camer view will be wider..

i saw the reaver!! its like a caterpillar! time is on 2:14.. behind the protoss line, we can see that reaver rather crawling slowly(again ) towards the line.

I think you speak for all of us when you say that the graphics are ugly, fuck ugly and simply just fugly.

But we can all remember back to SC1 Alpha and SC1 Beta, where zerg creep was purple, and dropships dropped marines and BOMBS. yeah ... those mother fuckers were ALSO seriously fugly.

We can also think: why is Blizzard fielding these units? to see our reaction. No doubt they've already heard a billion times ... the seige tank looks like Bugs Bunny could be the crew and holy fuck, is that a dancing Night Elf?

so between now and beta testing and release, I think we can expect:

1. terran buildings not so fucking shiny. They're corrugated tin (or the sci-fi equivalent ... corrugated ULTRA-tin), beat up, rudely bolted together, and able to withstand a beating ... NOt my 6 yr old sister's Barbie playhouse ...

2. Seige tanks ... o m f g ... I'll seriously reconsider my career (future) in progaming if they don't change the seige tank.

3. zerglings. if you give us 10 years to get used to dog zergling ... you can't go back to bug zergling like that. more streamlined, less claws, less bristles and shit, dog design, sleek, fast, ... just as deadly ...

since we haven't seen the rest of zerg and terran, I'd imagine they're full of gay units. so, I think they'll change some of those too.

The Protoss units and building have a nice look (the stargate and nexus are much more beautiful than the older ones of BW)

But the Zerg and Terran units are fucking ugly!!!!
And because im a Terran user (and lover ) i'm angry of those concepts...

The Marine concept suck! (that fucking riot shield is ridiculus and even the combat knife on the rifle is pathtic) i think the actual marine's concept of BW is awesome.
The Terran Reaper is a big shit, he's a hybrid of a flying marine/firebat, he looks bad... and the double pistols (like lara croft ) are big shits, it would be better a big rifle in marines style.
The Terran Siege Tank is the worst concept i ever seen, they look like toys, like Lego....
The Terran BattleCruiser is very similiar to the old one of BW, and it's good.
The Terran Bunker is like the siege tank, it's fucking ugly!
The Terran Buildings are too shiny and "plastic".... they look very ugly...

I'm really disgusted of those designs and concepts... maybe one of the new terran units will be Willy the Coyote with ACME bombs (that kill a MS in 1 shot ) and other stuff??

yeah and i loved when marines died THE BIG RED EXPLOSION WITH SCREEMS MUHAHAAHAH .... in SC2 marines dont even screem when get killed sux
and the shields?!! WTF shields suposed to be for medics (i dont even seen any medic gona totaly crap TvZ --; )

yeah no medics.. the shields would be great if they have functions. but if it doesn't then it totally would suck bigtime.. liked the stimpacked marine that goes berserk!

and on battlecruisers, i wouldn't agree that they look like they were on BW, its because they are fatter.. they battlecruisers on BW are slimmer and more.. og a stick with big boosters on its back. XD

jesus christ, just think again of the concept that marines bears a shield, and not the one like toss units bear but the ones that human wore thousands years ago. so they just go back to swords and shields. I mean, cmon blizzard... stop making warcraft series

Blizzard is a big company, they can take some negative feedback when needed.

#9 well i didn't whine i just made observations. so you say that you wouldn't care if sc2 would be 2D? im made this thread to let the players distinguish things that was changed and thw new things that was added.. you should atleast read my post.. this thread isn't about how the game plays, its how the game looks. and like you said, its not finish, thats why i didn't made anything that would tackle the "game play" topic..

#10 like i said, its not about the game play. its about the looks, the graphics. hell if its only game play, why make a game that needs work when the already have a game that is perfect. or why wait a game that is under construction if there is chess?? sheesh.. please, if you not going to talk about the game being 3D, don't post..

what we "whiners" are saying is that, blizz needs to pimp out more the units. well its not like the game is finished that we can make a request to change it. here, we hope they change the graphics a little so that the essence of making the game 3D would not be wasted.
imagine this, its been 10 years since sc1, and all we get are couple of new kick-ass units and some units that are rather.. odd-looking. so we hope that those odd-looking units be pimped-out.

Starcraft is more than a competitive game, is a "universe".
I don't play BW only because is a game for hardcore gamers, and because is the best RTS ever made, i started to play SC a lot of years ago because i was tottally captured by its style, by its story and of course by its look (units concept at first).

Yes, maybe my post seems written by a noob, but at first i like SC not for is competitive level, but because i like the game in itself.

For exemple one of the thing that persuaded me to start playing starcraft (i'm 100% T user since '98) is the terran's in-game soundtracks.... i loved them and i still love them....

Honestly it would be better if blizzard had not changed the concept of the old units that are still in SC2 (Marine, Tanks ...) because the old units concepts were just awesome....

The 3D engine is good, i think that it will be better than the engine of WC3.
And a 2D engine in 2007 is quite ridiculus...

This is acually "Starcraft 2" not another expantion. Stuff will change you can't have a follow up that is the same lolz O_O.

In the beginning sc2 may be imbalanced but blizzard will patch alot before it gets balanced. :P

Yes maybe the SC2 units look anyway a bit different from the older ones of BW, coz' of the 3D engine, but honestly the new look of rines and tanks are different and worst than the BW ones.
