SC II & GG.net coverage (1124 reads, 10 replies)
Dear GG.net,

You've done an incredibly amazing work in the past. You got bookmarked in my browser a LONG time ago and never managed to disappoint me... until these latest days/weeks. Actually, there is only 1 thing that bothers me:

What the * is happening with your StarCraft II coverage?? There have been a lot of, however small, updates on information about Blizzard's ultra-hyped title last week(s), and you don't mention ANY of them, except for the PCGamer movie. As a result, I'm not consulting you any longer as the freshest source on SCII, but I'm looking for websites as SCLegacy, the BattleNet Forums, Sc2League.com and others to feed my hunger for everything that is SCII-related.

Important news not mentioned on this site include:
- Blizzard assigned an RTS Community Manager, named Karune, who has a FAQ on BNet forums and regularly answers to SCII-related questions with mostly unannounced information, including
* multiple building select will be available
* unit selection is unlimited
* rally-point gathering is supported
* much, much more
- There are high resolution scans available of the PCGamer article on SCII
- Several new interviews are held, f.e. a Games For Windows article with Chris Sigaty
- I can go on for a while...

It's just a pity. I thought that if there was ONE site who would go completely MAD on every BIT of information released about SCII, it would be GosuGamers. I was wrong :)

But I still love you guys... Just assign a SCII news reporter or something :)

Kind regards.

I dunno, but I think the main reason for this is that a lot of the gg.net crew has been rather busy at DreamHack this week...

Pete-
thanks for your support of GosuGamers' news coverage in the past, and thank you for this post alerting us to recent updates to the SCII development. In fact, you're right, we should have all of the above things posted but have been slacking. If you and other users could help us out - that would be great. As part of a Web 2.0 experience, we are working to increase user-submitted content. A site with content run by a Crew works, but a site with user-generated content approved by the Crew will be much more active.

We have a news tip pool that the Crew editors can see. We check it daily for news tips and give credit to the person who submitted the news tip to us when it is written up.

When viewing a news, the link 'Submit a news tip' appears in the sub-navigation.

Again, thanks for bringing this to our attention, and I'm not going to make excuses. This should have been done.

Honestly, I'm supremely biased. But I think it's nice of GG to focus on what it does best - the Euro scene. TL has its Korean scene and sites like SC:L have their community/SC2/story scene. All in all it makes for a tighter community.

Honestly, I'm supremely biased. But I think LordofAscension should shush before he convinces GG that they don't need to accept my application. ;)

Well in the mean time, whenever you don't see a news up that you expect, just drop a line in our news tip pool, it is read very very often by all the editors. Thanks for the feedback.
