I really don't understand why you want a fixed camera angle... What's the advantage of that?? It's a 3D engine, let the user select the angle they want! That way, you can even have ramps going down at the top of the screen, wich in Starcraft where unavailable.
A hot-key to return to the default view won't be bad, in case you get lost rotating the screen.
And the issue with units hiding among buildings or larger units could be fixed using a subtle transparency effect, and showing the hidden unit's
silhouette, without even having to rotate the camera at all.

agree with #19.
what is really nice about bw, you still have a clear idea of where to click in order to do right thing. In competitive gameplay, it is less about spectacular effects and more about usability. However we all know, that blizzard also needs to attract new players. And without those beams-and-sparks it will be much harder. Therefor I think, that depending on what will be the blizzard priority, one element will be visible more and one less. You can still to choose stick with original BW. imo, its good.

I think this 3D-look will effect to gamespeed, so the battles and stuffs would (hope not) be same like in wc3.. pullfight, pullback, focus on target X etc. (sry my bad eng and i hope that all understands what i mean :E) Otherwise it looks rly nice :)

in wc3 you were able to minimize things like that to make the game clearer and to improve your framerate

i almost am sure it will be possible to disable laser beam & etc...

ever more , it was a demo and it had to impress the reporters to make it big and to have good critisism , you know what i'm talking about .

imho the 3D is a good thing despite the fact we will need a good cfg

I think it would be interesting with a free camera angle. I mean you don't have to use it if you don't want to but atleast give people an opportunity to use it.
I just hope it won't be as in WC 3 when you couldn't turn it as you wanted and it would just turn back to the standard angle. It didn't really contribute anything to the gameplay.

I hope that Blizzard will let people turn on and off effects to suit their gameplay or computer system.

I do as many others trust in Blizzard to make it a great game.

And not using a 3D engine for the game would be a step backwards.
