DreamHack announce Heroic as the fourth invited team at DreamHack Austin 2017.
DreamHack Open's next destination will be Austin, Texas on April 28th-30th. The tournament will offer $100,000 in prize pool money for eight attending teams. With Heroic announced to be the fourth invited team after G2 Esports, Cloud9 and Immortals, there are just four spots left to fill. Two more teams will receive direct invites, whilst two teams will have to earn their spots via European and North American qualifiers, with one spot dedicated for each region.
The Danish-Swedish team of Heroic were regarded as an up-and-coming Scandinavian team until their recent successes. Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen and co. ended 2016 by lifting the International Gaming League 2016 trophy over VG.CyberZen, receiving more than $40,000 in prize money. Then they moved on to secure a semi-final exit at DreamHack Open: Leipzig 2017 and more importantly at Intel Extreme Masters XI: Katowice 2017. With these results, the Danish/Swedish mix is now considered to be one of the few teams with potential to upset top tier opponents.
