SWE vs. AUS reports

[s]nationvsnation[/s]Sorry for the holdup, but due to school studies and stuff, I wasn't able to write the battle reports right after the match. And to tell you the truth, it takes a while to write these. But, here they are! Not all of the games, for the 2on2 games and the Dealer vs. Gabriel games I haven't done battlereports, blame it on the nice weather in Sweden right now. I hope that you will be satisfied with the ones I've written.

DaZe[SWE] vs. oG)PaladinPlayers: Sweden DaZe[SWE], Australia oG)Paladin
Map: The Lost Temple

#1 oG)Paladin stood up against one of Sweden's reserves; DaZe. The Australian Paladin stood up against the Swedish Viking in a place called Lost Temple, a very popular place to settle the score. DaZe, being Terran, landed at '3 o clock, while Paladin was located at '6 as Protoss. It starts off as pretty much every Protoss versus Terran at Lost Temple - the Terran, in this case DaZe, does a wall-in at his ramp and starts off with a refinery, to be able to build a factory right in time for when the Barracks finish. The Protoss, here lead by oG)Paladin, goes one gateway with refinery and Cybernetics Core, to be able to tech fast, and get some dragoons going. 3 minutes in, Paladin starts warping in his Robotics Facility, while DaZe is working on his Machine Shop which is the key for Tanks. As expected, DaZe starts a dropship in his newly built Starport, and Paladin gets an observer up to see what the Terran is doing.

dazevspala1.jpgWhen the dropship's done, DaZe starts to harass Paladin with two tanks flying around inside it. He approaches Paladin's peon line from the bottom left to the right, but Paladin is prepared for this kind of attack. Some dragoons ready, and that dropship's now nothing but scrap metal. Meanwhile DaZe starts a new Command Center in order to expand at his natural. When the Command Center just reached its landing location, Paladin has got several dragoons and two zealots there, with the attempt to have a better economy that him. The attack fails, thanks to well-placed tanks and some SCVs going berserk. Some quiet time, where DaZe is cliffing Paladin's non-existing natural expansion, in order to contain his economy advantage. In the Protoss base, somewhere near the Nexus, a Templar Archives is warping in.. Unlucky for Paladin, DaZe has vultures planting Spider Mines a little everywhere, mostly outside his own base.

There's gotta be another way! Paladin comes up with the idea to shuttle his gateway troops (Dragoons, Zealots and Dark Templars) into DaZe's base, using one shuttle only. In the meantime, he expands at 9 o' clock. DaZe did however notice that, and has a Marine shooting the blue warping ball. Due to lack of detection, DaZe gets pretty hurt, losing a lot of SCVs and some supply depots. But after a while, DaZe scans with his other Command Center, and manages to kill the Templar. Now is the time to strike back, so DaZe sends two dropships with two Vultures and three Tanks to the expansion, which is Paladin's only mineral base right now. Although Paladin did drop Zealots in order to break loose from the grip that DaZe had on Paladin's expansion, and is now starting a Nexus. So now DaZe is pretty much sending all his forces to the middle, to contain the map. He's also advancing in towards Paladin's newly built expansion, and stops the mineral flow once again, like a cork plug.

dazevspala2.jpgWith an effort to strike back, the noble Paladin unloads five Dragoons and a Dark Templar in DaZe's base and kills off some buildings and Vultures. DaZe is forced to fall back with his troops, in order to save his base. Now, the middle is wide open, except for the Spider Mines and the Turrets. With that problem out of the way, DaZe sends his remaining troops towards Paladin's expansion at '9, and Paladin says GG and leaves the game.

The second game was forfeited by Paladin, who later said that he was too afraid of Sweden.

Sweden 1-0 Australia

WhiZ[SWE] vs. GGnoREPlayers: Sweden WhiZ[SWE], Australia GGnoRE
Maps: The Lost Temple, Incubus

#1The previous Pirate of Space, GGnoRE AKA Legionnaire, one of the few non-koreans who has ever played in a league in one of the South Korean TV channels. He left P.O.S two months ago, but is still located in Korea. This famous Protoss player stood against another Protoss, the swedish WhiZ, member of the swedish clan NorthStars. The game was set at Lost Temple, where WhiZ was brown at '9, and GGnoRE at '3. Both players open up with a dual gateway build order, and are searching for their enemy. Legionnaire got his Cybernetics Core up and running before WhiZ, who's left a bit behind.

Five minutes in we have a Robotics Facility up for Legionnaire, while WhiZ is still warping in Zealots and Dragoons. As soon as the Robotics Facility is done, a Shuttle and an Observatory is being built, hoping to scout some odd moves from WhiZ. The shuttle was for transporting a Probe to the island expansion in the upper left, in order to set up a camp there. By now, both players have a Robotics Support Bay up, and we will most likely see some Reaver war here. After ten minutes, WhiZ feels like he needs to expand in order to keep up with the Australian ex-progamer, so he takes his natural. But the economy advantage is still in GGnoRe's hands, because of his newly built expansion at his own natural.

whizvsleg1.jpgWith four gateways pumping out units and a Templar Archive being warped in contra WhiZ's three gateways, Legionnaire has the advantage. Barely any blood has been shed, showing that these players are pretty defensive. WhiZ expands once again, now his mineral only, and Legionnaire just keeps on pumping. Obviously four gateways aren't enough, and adds four gateways in his main. WhiZ, now with an army of Zealots and Dragoons, is telling his troops to rendezvous outside Legionnaire's main. There he is greeted by High Templars, Reavers and some badass Archon power, and in an extremely fierce battle he loses almost all his dragoons, and is forced to retreat. With the obvious advantage, Legionnaire keeps pumping those troops and mixes Dark Templars, High Templars, Archons, Zealots and Dragoons in a perfect Gateway salad. Leg has also managed to place some photon cannons above WhiZ's natural and his mineral only, so he's got WhiZ in schack.

Nothing left to tell you but the final attack WhiZ makes, mass dragoons versus GGnoRE's Gateway salad. Not really much to say, the dragoons were not enough.

#2whizvsleg3.jpgThe second game was played on Incubus , both players still as Protoss. WhiZ is yellow located at the top left, and GGnoRE teal at the bottom right. Dual gates once again from both players. Legionnaire warps his Assimilator before WhiZ once again, while WhiZ was harassing Leg's peon line for a while. And here's something you don't see in every game - a Shield Battery. In case anyone of you has forgotten how they look, see the image.

The players have similar playing styles. Right after that Leg made an attack towards WhiZ and seeing his shield battery, he did the same. WhiZ managed to keep Leg away from his base, and advanced towards Leg's newly built expansion. We get to see some really nice micromanagement from WhiZ, but Leg calls in his probes to do the dirty work. But WhiZ just keeps on sending dragoons, and when it seems hopeless for Legionnaire, all of a sudden three Dark Templars pop out. So WhiZ immediately starts building a Robotics Facility and some photons in his base, to defend himself versus the Templars of the night.
whizvsleg4.jpgWith observers and a weapon upgrade, WhiZ advances into Leg's pocket expansion, but some more probe power and dragoons denies WhiZ's warriors to raze that Nexus. 16 minutes in, Legionnaire now has his second expansion, it's located at 3 o' clock, and WhiZ has just started with his pocket expansion.
Now with a whole lot of Archons and Zealots, Legionnaire goes to attack WhiZ's army of Dragoons and Zealots. And when the battle barely starts, it's the end, where Legionnaire stands as the winner of the battle. GG NO RE, as we say.

Sweden 1-1 Australia

Chaso[SWE] vs. FilthyPlayers: Sweden Chaso[SWE], Australia Filthy
Maps: The Lost Temple, The Ragnarok

#1 Chaso is the second of Sweden's reserves in this Nation War. Chaso is a pretty interesting Terran player, and is a member of the European clan Team Extreme, also member of the Swedish clan Glädje och Självförtroende. He stood up against Filthy on Lost Temple as the first map. Chaso did the standard wall-in, and Filthy teched up to Cybernetics Core. Some tanks are rolling out, armed and ready. Filthy techs up to Robotics Facility, Observers and Dragoons are on the loose.
chasovsfilth1.jpgSeven minutes in, and Chaso has got a bunch of tanks and some Vultures outside Filthy's base, Spider Mines dropped and all. But since Filthy had Observers, it was no problem. By now Chaso has expanded to his natural, and is building an Academy. Filthy has a Robotics Support Bay up, and a reaver and two zealots heading towards Chaso's peon line in a shuttle. The drop made a lot of damage, killing of a whole bunch of SCVs. Filthy's expansion is just about done, as well as a fleet beacon, and a stargate building a Carrier. Chaso, who has no air support at all, going only Vultures and Tanks, is not aware of this. But how much does one carrier do, anyway?

chasovsfilth2.jpgChaso sends a dropship with two Tanks to Filthy's expansion cliff, that manages to kill some working probes before Filthy sends a shuttle with dragoons in to take care of it. Some quiet time again, and then Chaso drops another bunch of tanks, but this time Filthy uses his two Carriers to deal with Chaso's cliff harass. By now Chaso has a lot of troops, mostly tanks, but also a bunch of Vultures and Goliaths. So without further ado, he advances towards the middle and kills three of Filthy's four carriers along with some Dragoons and zealots. 1-0 to Chaso!

chasovsfilth3.jpgGame 2 then. The map is The Ragnarok, where Chaso is Terran at the top right, and Filthy top left as Zerg. Filthy decides to do an early attack, and sends 6 of his zerglings just as they're hatched, but Chaso has put up an SCV & Marine wall at his ramp, making Filthy unable to get inside. Chaso is building an Academy, and Filthy is upgrading to a Lair. He's also got an expansion up and running, at the expansion down the bottom right.

chasovsfilth4.jpgBy know, Chaso has trained a bunch of marines, firebats and medics, and is ready to move out. While approaching Filthy's base, suddenly dozens of Zerglings pop out of nowhere. With Chaso being unprepared for this, his force gets torn to shreds by the Zergling blades. With the Zergling survivors and some newly morphed Lurkers, Chaso's base is screwed. A nice trick made by Filthy! 1-1!

Game 3, obviously we can't settle this in a civilized way, now is the time to get rough. Chaso keeps playing with his sturdy Terran, and Filthy is Zerg once again, possibly strengthened because of his last win. Back to Lost Temple; Chaso '3 and Filthy '6. Chaso is doing Marines & Medics, on his way to factory, when Filthy goes for lurkers and the dropping ability researching at his Lair.
chasovsfilth5.jpgAfter a while, comforted by his burrowed lurkers, Filthy expands at his natural. Chaso is fast to see this, and sends a dropship and a wraith to the cliff, and puts his Tanks to release their Arclite power on the Hatchery. In the meantime, Filthy goes straight to the source - dropping Lurkers, Zerglings and Hydralisks in Chaso's main, killing off a lot of workers before Chaso manages to wipe away the attack with the help of Tanks and Marines.
Now it's Chasos' turn to attack. A twelve of marines and medics goes off to play some Drone roundup, first to 7 wins! I'm not sure if any of them wins, because Filthy has some lurkers and hydralisks just outside the ramp.

Despite Chaso's bunker and turret surrounded by supply depots, Filthy can quite easily move in to the Terran base. All Chaso's units dead, he gives. 2-1 to Filthy!

Sweden 1-2 Australia

KaaZ[SWE] vs. HellZergPlayers: Sweden KaaZ[SWE], Australia HellZerg
Map: The Lost Temple, Evo. Predator II

KaaZ, the Zerg player went up against HellZerg the, despite his name, Terran player. Lost Temple's the map, and KaaZ was placed at '3, and HellZerg at '12. KaaZ early expands at his natural, and HellZerg obviously takes advantage of that. An offensive bunker causes minor problems for KaaZ, who destroys the bunker with his drones and some newborn Zerglings. Quiet time, where the players build up their forces. 10 minutes in, HellZerg has his Science Vessel, as well as Tanks and Marines. KaaZ has researched both the drop and the speed ability on the Overlords, and is the owner of three lurkers and a bunch of hydralisks.

KaaZ, with the feeling that he must stay on top of HellZerg, decides to unload two lurkers behind the mineral line at HellZerg's undone natural expansion. When the expansion's done, HellZerg sends a couple of SCVs and some troops to the expansion, and by the time the peons go to work, they blow up by the subterranean spines. But thanks to a scan, HellZerg can now get his expansion up and running in peace. KaaZ decides to expand three times, one at the bottom island, the other at '6's natural and the last at '6's main.
kaazvshell1.jpgNow is the time to attack, so HellZerg sends his marines/medics/tanks/sci vessels outside of Kaaz's main, and gets greeted by a swarm of hydralisks and lurkers, who easily can take care of the puny human attack. Another moveout by HellZerg, this time to the middle. Thanks to KaaZ's great macro, with four economy bases, the swarm once again overwhelms the Terran Army. KaaZ has by know Ultralisks and a whole lot of Lurkers. HellZerg has the standard Terran Army, advancing towards Kaaz's base. A very defensive KaaZ slashes his way through with his Kaiser Blades, winning the game 1-0!

#2 Let's move on to the second game of the Zerg KaaZ versus the Terran HellZerg. This game is played on Evolution Predator II, a map which is pretty interesting. Just beside your main, you have your expansion, with gas and minerals and all. evopred.jpg One ramp per main, and all in all a four player spot. Here's a shot of the minimap. KaaZ, taking advantage of the expansion's position, is morphing lurkers while HellZerg has marines and medics, and a science vessel coming up. A wraith is also flying around harassing KaaZ a bit. 10 minutes in, we see that KaaZ has double expanded up to the two '12 expansions, while HellZerg is still on his main only.

In this game, KaaZ is much more offensive. He sends his swarm of scourges, hydralisks and lurkers towards HellZerg's opening, where he is greeted by marines, medics, tanks and a science vessel. kaazvshell2.jpg The scourges take care of the Vessels, the hydras and lurkers work as allies against the Tanks and Marines. But what's this? KaaZ escaping? Well, he's probably waiting for more units, or better weather, who knows? And this is basically what's happening during the game, Kaaz's continuous pumping, powered by his four expansions, outnumbering the Terran's army.

Minutes before the game ends, HellZerg does a quite impressive attack consisting of dozens of Tanks supported by Marines and Medics. But because of KaaZ's economy, he has built a lot of ultralisks, and a lot of Lurkers, so the game is KaaZ's.
