Conquest Continued: The Fight for the Galaxy

With two countries already eliminated in the race for galactic domination, the race quickens as Poland and Sweden take their swings at the Galactic Conquest. Holding off Polish forces, Germany was able to occupy their homeworld for a week longer only for it to fall in the hands of the Swedish army.

The third and fourth issue of WGTour's The Mercury are out and reports of the battles are in. In the third issue of The Mercury reported a Polish invasion force that was stopped at the door steps of Earth, represented by Germany. Just a week after the first invasion attempt on Earth, the Swedish army thought, "why not?" With that, they stormed through the asteroid belt and on to the third rock from the Sun, Earth. Only two players from the previous defensive maneuver against hostiles had returned to defend Earth, Germany

It is now Russia's turn to travel across the galaxy and make their presence be felt. The Mercury put Char, the planet occupied by Canada, as the most likely target by the Russians as there have been some on-going bad blood between the two. Whether this is true, only time will tell, while in the mean time there is no doubt the Canadian forces are preparing their defences.

As it stands, Germany has been engaged in the most battles thus far, having won two of their three wars. However, their matches stand with 12 wins and 11 losses overall, this is taking into account of all matches played in the best of 3s. The country with the best record in match counts so far is Hungary, with a 6-1 win-loss ratio.
