The main stage event of today featured the chinese progamer Lx and the Korean player JulyZerg. The map was Paranoid android, the outcome uncertain. Who would win this battle between China and Korea?
The match started with the usual round of applause, followed up by the theme song. When the game got underway, we found out that JulyZerg started at the upper position on 1, and Lx at 2. Lx scouted late, building his pylon then returning to his mineral line. July opted for a 12pool build followed up with a hatchery on the natural.
This was however undermined by a sneaky probe that Lx sent to his opponent. It stopped the hatchery from getting built, and killed the drone near it in the process. Lings made short work of the probe after that, and the overlord scouting over Lx' base found out he was teching. Gas was being built, and a cybernetics core on its way as july built a third hatch and was massing drones.Lx chased july's overlord away with a dragoon, then proceeded to build a stargate, followed up with a robotics facility and a forge. He then scouted July's base with a corsair. July had finished his hydra den and was massing hydras, then assaulted Lx' ramp with 12 zerglings and 5 hydralisks. Lx barely survived with 3 zealots, a dragoon, and a cannon, but used good micro to pull it off.
Lx then followed this up with a reaver drop, crushing the zerg economy by killing a lot of drones. Lx was caught offguard with a massive hydra/ling offensive storming the ramp, this time successful. Lx was enjoying July's base with his reavers at this time, when about 7 hydralisks survived to cause damage inside of Lx' main, but they couldn't do much as Lx retreated his two reavers to hold off the offenders. Lx made a small micro mistake, causing one of his reavers to die, but the other one was causing havoc.
"This reaver is pissed off," were Tasteless' only words to consolidate the hydras falling to the scarabs. Even though one reaver died, another one just popped out of the Robotics Facility. JulyZerg refreshed his hydralisk force, adding hydras to make a total of 9. They attempted to kill some buildings, but the reavers held them off.
July felt it was safe to return some drones to his main and started mining there again, having reinforced it with a few hydralisks. July continued to dance with a few hydralisks to keep Lx busy, as he teched to mutas and built more drones.
July launched a small offensive, but had to retreat early with a few casualties. Mutas proceeded to kill some units, killing a HT which made Tasteless angry. Lx storm dropped afterwards, killing the grand total of one drone. He tried it again, but one shuttle was caught by scourge, leaving only one reaver and one ht. The reaver got killed. The ht walked away pretending not to have energy, but then stormed July's workers, killing all of them in his main.
July thought this a good excuse to send his mutas to take care of more reavers. As the last reaver fell at Lx' newborn natural, it got destroyed by a large force of hydralisks, forcing Lx to say GG.
