That Poland only had one spot in the WCG Grand Final was wrong, according to many. Their player material includes talent and skill that can put up with good fights against the other WCG participants. But money being the problem, and the Polish World Cyber Games organzation only gave StarCraft one spot. The runner-up in the Polish qualifier - Raven (picture) - was really looking forward to playing in WCG, and did not give up after losing to Draco.Have sponsors that will pay for him
Raven contacted the local Polish organizers and requested for them to open up another spot and that he had sponsors that will pay the money needed to take part. This includes a general player cost that includes the player hotel cost, and all the other stuff. After lots of discussing, talking to the Polish orgas, European orgas and to the company behind WCG - International Cyber Marketing (ICM), he was allowed to pay up and go to Monza as the second StarCraft player for Poland.
According to MeetYourMakers, Raven had been practicing in secret on various servers, and losing in the qualifier he felt very bitter. So he called out to the community for help in » this thread at TeamLiquid saying he needed information about players doing the same in previous WCG events.
- It's sad that so many skilled players, sometimes even #1 in their country, can't go to finals when people could use other sponsors to get more tickets. This way is good, because could make same way easier to repeat in other countries, says Raven, clearly positive about this and hopes it might work the same way with other countries.
