Valor Tournament Announced with $1000 in prizes!

Starfeeder has announced a new tournament for the foreign community with the help of GOMTV, Nick “Tasteless” Plott and Daniel “Super Daniel Man” Lee. The Valor tournament will have $1000 (USD) in prizes for players to win.

From the information on the site it looks like there will be spots for 1000 gamers to enter this tournament with first prize being $700 (USD), second being $200 and third being $100. The tournament will be held on iCCup although there is no date set currently.

Here are some additional details on how it will work straight from Starfeeder:
“The tournament will be organized and played on ICCUP (watch out for the notice to sign-up coming soon). After the tournament has started, the remaining 32 players will enter the final tournament bracket, with the next 16 players acting as reserves. During the qualifying ladder players will get a chance to play professional Starcraft gamers, however this tournament is for the foreign community.”

Streaming will also be happening during the tournament, although it is not stated if it will only be the top 32 games, or select games throughout the tournament:

“Tasteless & SuperDanielMan will be commentating the games, all matches will have High quality premium videos featured on GOMtv. Regular quality videos will be embedded on Starfeeder the day after the match is completed (Videos will be uploaded on our Wegame account for others to share).”

This looks to be a great tournament with the cooperation of GOMTV and big names like Tasteless and Daniel Lee. We will let you know when signups start and look forward to covering this tournament!

Oh god another ladder? There's been 2 already now with scl and asl, and tsl is around the corner, this is ridiculous man :\. Another format would be better, not trying to be an unappreciative prick but ladder system is getting ridiculous.

There do seem to be a lot of tournaments that start with ladders.

Korean tournaments get around this by having KeSPA ranks for all the players, but that doesn't seem viable for foreigners.

Either way more tournaments and money for foreigners is good, and I'm excited to get to watch some more top-notch games.

I think they should spend money to top8 not only to top3..
EDIT: Who will get to play progamers? If Artosis will pick those players again it will be 80% of his friends and USA players.

great great news!

i just hope all these tournement orginisers talk to eachother about timing the events

f.e having 2 events at same time = bad idea, having 1 event straight after another = bad idea.

but its really good! with ASL right now, this tournement, and then TSL, alot of reason for people to start playing again, and its not as if WCG is that far off either...

and about the whole ladder thing before tournement, i agree with this, because i dont see it very fair that players get picked due to popularity. look at brat_ok. he placed top 4 in TSL by putting out some solid performances. If TSL was an invite only event, would he even be considered? - probably not.

therefore ladder is always the "fairest" mode.

thats all imho

It would be nice if they give ICCup a heads up when they do these things, or at least a shout out.

I just wanted to add that SuperDanielMan plays a major role in the organization of this tournament, hes not just the caster, but head organizer.

Thanks for the news post :)

ICCUP team is up and ready to be joined, players can start playing right away and not wait for a confirmation:

Players must add VAL in front of their handles, use a temp email service like: http://www.guerrillamail.com/ for a new name

#45 Lipton 1
Hey to the players signing up, remember you need either VAL or Valor in your id somewhere.

Regular names will not be allowed, this just makes things a bit easier...

#42 When you make it past the qualifying stage for anything let me know.

#15 You are not a top foreigner. Top foreigners have titles behind their name, or reputations that are worth mentioning, not kids that ask for tournaments during foreigner hours so they can earn easy points, or kids that look to be famous in the foreign community because they crave attention and respect, and also people that are willing to clan hop to get their name heard. Top foreigners dont push the envelope by cheating the system, they just produce results.
