Ivan "(orky)Soul" Demidov, former top StarCraft and WarCraft 3 player and member of the same clan as the well-known (orky)Asmodey won over five million dollars earlier today. Finishing on second place in the yearly World Series of Poker, the three times WCG Russia representative, Ivan Demidov can be added to the list of successful StarCrafters turning in to successful poker players.Ivan Demidov played the WC3 tournament at WCG 2003 and WCG 2004. 2003 he lost to Insomnia in the first playoff round, but defeated nowadays Chinese superstar suhO in the group stage. 2004 he lost in the tiebreaker of Group I after tieing with Wizard and Miou. Back in 2002, he also played for Russia, but then as an Age of Emires player.
(orky)Soul also made a run in professional StarCraft in Korea, and is also known for his victory in AMD PG Challenge.
- I'm someone who's not going to cry, Demidov said.
- I'm disappointed, but I'm going to be happy. That’s the way it turned out, Demidov said.
Other StarCraft players like Dan "Rekrul" Schreiber, Guillaume "X'Ds~Grrrr" Patry and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospeiller have also been successful in their swap to poker.

| I dont know why ppl think there are poker skills hidden within sc. SC and Poker dont really have that much in common. But the thing is both games have the same recipe for success. The only way to become good at any of those games is by a lot of hard practice and determination. No sc player ever got good by playing weekends only or giving up when he got stuck on C+. Its pretty much the same with Poker. Playing poker for living is much like being a progamer. You simply have to practice 10+ hours a day to get to the top. |

| yea, having a starcraft skill influences your skills in poker especially when building ur bankroll, and play like 6-18 tables at once, that requires speed and multitasking, 300 apm comes in handy at that time :)) edit: do anyone know if he bought himself in or did he win a seat in sattelite? (prolly the second option but im curious) |

| I dont know if you have to play 10 hours a day to win in a poker tournament. Starcraft is mush harder to become good at. I know how to play poker (texas hold'em), but i NEVER play it. Even so recently i just played a poker game with 8 other people and i won the whole thing. First time i played it in 3 years. All it take is a little sense and a lot off luck. And it isn't even exciting if you havent got money in the game! |

| my clan (pD Pure Dase) (Pure Luck merged with clan cD for this event) played against orky in clan base cup something in 2000-2001 or so, i played against orky soul in an epic zvz and won 2-1 and delicato won against asmodey with 2-0 , good old times. gogo russia ;) |
