MvPZerg: My life is StarCraft

Posted by Lars "cYaN" Olsen 3 years ago

EffOrt has once again been interviewing some players who are less known in our community. This time it's the semi pro Sung Ro Lee also known as MvPzerG[kaL].

MvPzerG is 19 years old and obviously a Zerg player. He became a semi professional this year after winning courage. He played ICCup last season and got to A- with 118 wins and 39 losses. This season he's not playing though.

Tell us about when you went to courage
I played GosI[Saga] in 5th round. I lost the first game and it was hard in the second game. I honestly thought I was going to lose but I had some luck that day and won. Then I played Lucky[PKM] in the sixth round, which went a little easier than versus Saga.

Did you get any pro team invites after that?
I tried out for the pro team Lecaf Oz, but failed. It was very hard. I played KT.MGW)ggaemo, lomo[fou], inter.young, Hiya[fOu] and tosky[3.33]. I won versus tosky but lost to the other four.

How did you prepare for that?
I didn't do any special training at all. I wasn't scared. There was nothing to lose even if I lost. Now I'm currently not in a team.

How are you doing in school?
I'm in my senior year, studying starcraft. I don't really study that much because of starcraft. It makes me lazy in school and my grades suffer because of it and I usually just go to Elite starcraft school. Its where different schools face off with each other. My life is starcraft I love it too much.

What do you know about the non-korean community and do you have any advice for those who might want to do well in Korea?
I know of Mondragon, he is really good player and Infernal. I win sometimes vs them and lose sometimes as well. I say just train really hard and just set your mind to it and something good will happen ^^

Who's your favorite pro and what's your favorite pro team?
Dream.T)m18m because I have him on my /f l and my favorite pro team is Samsung Khan. I like Khan because the uniform is so pretty.

Are there any progamers you dislike?
No, becoming a pro gamer is my dream. I would never think about hating any of them^^ They fulfilled my dream already and I want to do the same.

How would you describe your skill level?
I'm still lacking some skill. I wish to become the best pro gamer and must improve to do that.

Special thanks to O)Spirit

lol tbh even if he is extremely good i feel a bit sad for him saying "starcraft is my life".. wait 2 years when starcraft dies, and kid will wake up being no one, having nothing, knowing no one... thats pretty hopeless for 19 years old

this is a example of the korean wrong mentality, what will they do when sc2 will be out? will they suicide? i think that school is more more important then playing

#31 its not the korean mentality, its just his personal mentality. The same shit happens to almost everyone as some point, it just doesnt necessarily involve starcraft. Tons of ppl put off school work for other activities. Dancing / Sports / work / A Girlfriend / Family problems ETC ETC...so really, you have no right to judge an entire country based off of 1 guys sentence, that really should just be taken lightly.

Starcraft is my life too, At work I think about it, and when I come home, I play it....so by your definition, all of Canada is screwed!

36# in canada there aren't many people who live for sc, instead of korea where sooo many people live for sc =)
anyway the biggest part of korean are nerd, of course, korean players are many and then there normal people but the biggest part is nerd
sry for my bad english
