Zynastor, the creator of the infamous Oblivion hack tells us why he does it, his point of view on hacking, and plans for future hacks.
NaW-Emerald over at www.teamnaw.com gained a rare chance to interview Zynastor. In this 19 question long interview NaW-Emerald was able to provide us with insight on the man behind the hack.
"I suppose the main reason for me doing this (developing hacks) is for fun, i am not out to ruin your ladders, leagues or anything like that."
An amazing look at the creator of some of the most damaging hacks ever to sweep the StarCraft competitive community.
-"Oblivion is downloaded from the original source website about 500 times every day. That equals 15 000 downloads per month, or 180 000 downloads per year."
The interview begins with how Zynastor got started in the hacking scene and takes you all the way to his future plans in hacking. You will not want to miss this one; NaW-Emerald has done a fantastic job and really brought some insight into the man behind the hack.

| Imagine if he had helped make good third party stuff for SC instead of software that ruins peoples hobby which makes competitive scenes so much harder to grow. He seemed very naive about responsibility. He gives out a free software to hundreds of thousands of people which is designed to malign the community with clear conscience. I think he needs to better understand that making software that makes something more fun for some is only good until it also ruins it for other people. If playing a game that is unbalanced is so much fun play the computer, why include other people who are unwittingly cheated? |

| Great interview. I've always appreciated hackers in some way, as they reveal weak places in the original design, so they could be fixed. There are no better testers than hackers, as the original beta testers are lookin for something that doesnt' work properly, and hackers are looking for a way to screw with "you", which is 100 times better motivator. An unfair advantage, in a competetive game like SC or even an RPG could be very entertaining. I used to create farming bots for Diablo2 and still doing some basic ones for several MMOs, it's fun. |

| I believe #2 summed it up the best. He comes off as quite a sadistic guy to me. He enjoys gaining huge advantage over someone & just recklessly runover them like a helpless baby trying to free himself from some pedophile. Part of the reason why the guy hardly thinks about how big of a potential damage his programs might cause, and part of the reason why this guy hardly ever makes 3rd party programs like BWChart, etc, that helps out StarCraft competition. |

| This guy is actually really smart. There is definitely something to be admired by someone who can find and abuse flaws in a game created by a multi-million dollar company like Blizzard. He is the very reason why there is so much conflict among the sc community. Anyone who calls him a retard is actually an ignorant cunt. We should admire his programming aspirations and talent. After all, if he didnt create the hacks, someone else would have. PLUS its a good thing to put on his resume. Better than having worked for Google even. :D |

| Guys I know you people hate this man, Zynastor, for ruining your StarCraft experience by making hacks. But he's not arrogant, he's not a jerk, heck he's not a noob or an idiot. He's a nice guy, a smart guy. If he was a real jerk, he would've turned this interview down in a heartbeat. Being able to exploit StarCraft is an accomplishment, doesn't matter how you slice the cake on this one. It is an accomplishment that takes a man having something between his ears to do it. No where in this interview has that guy been cocky. You want arrogance? Check out TL.net. Check out how they treat threads from newbies with jokes or whatever on there. Check out how they immediately dismiss some opinions lesser people or people that are not in "their circle". Check out the constant use of "retard" or "GTFO noob" to ward off those people. | IF he made it, used it himself, then ok. But give it to the public is really like killing the game for those who dont hack and wish to play fair. If you make something like this for a single player game, then its cool; only one you hurt is the poor NPCs taht will try to bacsh you on GODMODE. But here, where ladders and other things are taken into account, its not nice. Btw, this guy is not talented, making a hack or a bot is the easy part, how about makeing a tool to catch hackers? like an add on for bwchart.. thats skill and talent. |

| Didn't read any comments so excuse me if this is already said. I completely agree with Zynastor, although I don't approve of hacking ever, nor people using them in serious games, that the responsibility fully relies on the people. This is the perfect example of a bad joke, someone says something racist around 5 dumb people, and the dumb people go around saying it and then you get blamed for being a racist although it was a joke. People are always responsible for their actions, and bashing someone for making something available never makes it right. I've never heard someone reasonably think it was ever a corporations fault for an employee fucking up and getting a lawsuit. So, in the end although I think Zynastor will get fucked eventually because of the "peons", it still is their fault. |

But still, in the end, the accomplishment lies in the fact he showcases his C++ & programming skills, & having something between his ears to be able to undermine StarCraft through 3rd party programs. Obviously people that are pissed don't understand & think people like me admire this man for ruining the StarCraft competition scene. In reality, I don't admire this man, I'm indifferent about him. I'm just giving him credit to where it's due. For this man to come out, do an interview to talk about his motives behind making hacks, where he will obviously take more heat than he already has, is another thing I'll give him credit for. |
| Maybe he does not care that much about starcraft as some other people do. After all, it is much more retarted to have SC as ur life than create a hack for it imo. Except for the rly talented players, ofcourse. So dont be that hard on him, his skills are in c++ instead of micro and macro. |
| I am impressed by his skills..... This is like hating the guy who invented TNT or the chemist who made LSD or the people who made steroids.... Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Its the people who use this stuff to get an unfair advantage that you should hate because they are the one's that ruin the game. They are hard to find... so you direct your hate at this guy. People who make hacks display weaknesses in the system that can be corrected. He is good at what he does but you guys will never admit it. Last point that I probably can't STRESS ENOUGH: Starcraft is not yours. Starcraft is not mine. Its anyone's who buys it. If you are on this site you probably treat it pretty seriously. The rest of the people don't give a rats ass about this game. They just wanna have some fun. They wanna pwn some people on battle net. To them Starcraft is nothing more than a GAME. I think it is unfair to demand of people not to mod their game because it might affect our community. Imagine you are on a lake, in a motor boat. A sailboat comes by and you hear someone yelling "you NOOB, why do you need a motor, that has no skill, you are ruining the boating scene". You probably think... wtf? I come here once a week to cruise and relax. What is this guys problem. "We have a whole ranking system for speed and you're messing it up cheater"... well you probably don't care about the ranking. You just wanna cruise the lake race some sailboats, kick their asses and go home. Now the people that have a little secret motor but pretend to have sailboats are the problem, but you can't go and blame the guy who makes the motors.... geez. |
| The only 'problem' one can say about Zynastor is he likes unfair advantages. However, since it takes that into non-competitive frameworks it's purely a personal only problem. He made the tools, but other people cheat with them. Also of note, good to see you're continuing to attack Tl.net any chance you get 4biddenknight. You're really putting some time in there. |
