A new StarCraft mapping site has arisen in the community recently. In addition to the already popular StarEdit.net and BroodWarMaps.net, Maplantis.org was recently made. It has the philosophy of communal map making, believing that the best maps come from a clash of ideas.
| Welcome to Maplantis. This website is created by three individuals who believe greatly in the ideals of equal community and open map making. Maplantis is exists for the purpose of collaboration and perfection. No map is perfect - which is why we allow and encourage, individuals to share and edit existing maps and continue passing it on. Some people don't have the time, skill or motivation to complete a map from beginning to end, but here they are able to edit the map of their favorite maps and make the ideas and creations better than they were before. |
The website is very user friendly involving a news page with recent developments and ideas in mapping, forums for discussion of maps or ideas, and a map section that features not only traditional "low money" Melee maps, but also experimental melee maps and a wide range of Use Map Settings maps. They have RPGs, Bounds, Experimentals, Arenas and many more types of Use Map Settings maps. The upload system is automatic. It makes a picture, lists the forces, the humans, the computers, the number of players and the size of the map. Go ahead and upload your favorite map and extend a helping hand to one of our fellow community sites.
