WCG06: iloveoov was unstoppable

[s]event_315[/s]

Iloveoov is in the finals after losing only one game against Draco. Legendary tried his best, but found that Oov was just unstoppable!

First game started on Azalea while the players were on diagonal positions, Oov at 7 and Legendary at 1. Oov started with a one factory command center and legendary did a 2 gates goon opening. Legendary managed to attack with his early goons and gave Oov a difficult time before he started building his command center. Oov defended nicely with his marines, one tank and his SCVs. Defeating Legendary's first attack, he took the gas expansion.

Legendary teched for reaver and made a reaver drop, which ended when a marine shot down the shuttle that just couldn't make it to the cliff. Having defeated the reaver drop and having taken the mineral only and gas expansions, Oov just macroed with 8 or 9 factories and a nice mixture of goliaths, tanks and vultures rolled over Legendary to his base. There was nothing to do for legendary except typing "gg".

Second game was on Gaia and the players were once again on opposite sides of the map, being 6 for oov and 12 for legendary. The players went with the standard build orders: 2 fact vultures for oov and a safe game play by legendary. There wasn't a lot of action during the first part of the game, and both players took sides of the map: right for Oov and left for Legendary.

The game turned into a macro game, as often happens on Gaia in TvP. Legendary teched to arbiters and bought some time by making a 3 shuttle drop on oov's 2 o'clock expansion, followed by two recalls in the same area. The game went on as players harrassed eachother's expansions, but not doing any significant damage.

One of these was a 2 dropship, 4 tanks drop on Legendary's 7 o'clock expansion and while disturbing him with that, he took back his expansion at 2. Legendary teched to carriers and then dark templars. However, Oov's macro was superior, as it has always been, and after adding science vessels to his army, Legendary found himself typing "gg" again.

I am certain that Boxer would have typed "That is many tank? Yes?" if he had seen Oov's army moving to Legendary's main base towards the end of the game.
