Blizzard: If Cameron asked we would sign
Posted by Patrik "Raistlin" Hellstrand 1 year ago

With the "WarCraft" movie in the planning, Blizzard tells MTV Multiplayer that they would do a "StarCraft" movie should James Cameron come up and ask them.
Blizzard have for long been widely known for their top tier cinematics team, and many fans have been wanting them to take StarCraft to the movies. Rob Pardo, the EVP of Game Design at Blizzard says that they have always wanted to go this route with its franchises, but that they need to find the right production team to do so.
- "We've always had an interest in seeing our stuff on film or TV. It's just tricky to find the right partners. We probably could have made a 'StarCraft' movie or something on TV years and years ago, but it's really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties. That's always been the challenge for us," says Pardo. "I think if Jim Cameron came to us tomorrow and said, 'You want to make a 'StarCraft' movie?' we'd probably sign that."
Back in 2006, Blizzard announced that the movie "WarCraft" was in the planning, working with Legendary Pictures set to make a live-actino movie set in the WarCraft universe. With Sam Raimi set to direct the film, the movie is still in story-development mode. Further emphasizing on having a good team to lead the project, Pardo says the WarCraft movie found just that.
- "That's why we did the 'WoW' movie. We were really excited about being involved with Legendary Pictures, who we thought had a really good track record with these sorts of movies that would make sense for our franchises," says Pardo.

Funny how banner looks like marine shooting Cameron :D. But srsly...SC Movie would be nice:)
#5 & #30 you've got point. Now, about that warcrafr movie... Am I the only who'd like to se a movie about warcraft: orcs and humans? (Actualy, I mean warcraft 1 and 2) Cause when I saw what kind of 'wierd creatures' can be seen in WoW or Warcraft 3, I'd be quite afraid to watch a movie. Usually, when I want to see violet gay elves riding pink elephants, I get my self about 20 little mushrooms and lock myslelf in a room full of pillows with no sharp objects in it.
#18 not wow but wc3 movie
Anyone Bashing Cameron here, think about it like this. Yes Avatar was predictable, but the Graphics were amazing. So I'm pretty sure Blizzard will want Cameron to make it following the SC story line (which we all Love) and combined with Cameron's Graphics (which most of us will agree were awesome) you have an Epic SC Movie. I have full confidence in Blizzard when it comes to their games. Besides if a SC movie never happens we already have 2. Starship Troopers & Alien Vs Predator =) Now a Diablo Movie ..... That would be Epic
like Dragon Ball movie?? i dunno movies doesnt make for fans or gamers just for $
#54: Dude, if anyone was to do graphics, who else would that be if not Blizzard... Or should Cameron stop scripting and directing and start making the graphics? I think Cameron did his job with Aliens. Let's hope he won't come with ape's brain worth story just for the sake of graphics. I love SC, but if they came up with a story as simple as avatar, I'd probably start hating it. Besides, the story of SC1 seemed a bit less polished than the SC2. In SC2 tries to tell you: Hey look, epic scene comming in 5,4,3,2,1: EPIC SCENE. It's too self-confident for me, but yeah, it's still starcraft. SC1 was more like: Oh, you marines are gonna keep dying whatever you do, you're all just pawns. And the cinematics prooved it and kinda made fun of it. The story line was there to support the feeling from the game. It didn't smash you in the face saying: LOVE THE STORY OR FOAD!!!! But agree with a diablo movie, Half life movie would be great. You can say that about most games i guess.
@56 well yea I AGREE 100% that blizzard should do the cinematics themselves, But I doubt that will happen due to resources and time needed to work on the Games themselves. I'm just saying that Cameron ideas for the graphics used in avatar wasn't a bad idea and if he was to do the movie it would be that I was hoping they would want him for. And it just makes sense to Follow the story itself of SC mainly because Haters are gonna hate if it's not Following the games story. that's really why like all video game movies suck (because the directors and writers make their own story's) Except the first street fighter movie, it was so bad it was good :P and Mario Bro's lol
There will be no Starcraft 2 move because it would be too easy to make pirated copies of it. ...Or jut maybe they release move on BNET. the most advanced gaming and move watching platform.
warcraft movie > starcraft movie and even better if it wasnt only wow shit.
Lol @ posters confused by Jim/James... (even from Canada wtf? I know at least one James going by Jim in Canada...) Why doesn't it make sense as a diminutive? In my opinion it's one of the better ones because you get Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo, etc. in the package. Going further, how about Jack being short for John? Bill for William? Using Rob/Robert as the basis of what shortened names should be is pretty silly. What the interview should've said is Blizzard needs to make sure the profits are right before undertaking a movie, nothing else--A WoW or SC2 movie will be an overbudgeted CGI lame-fest meant to cash in on a popular audience (thats why theyre interested in directors like Raimi and Cameron) Edit: #57 you may be one of the few people I've ever encountered who believes, as I do, that Streetfighter and Mario Bros. are so bad theyre classic, and enjoyable to watch to this day (on drugs especially).
